The Role of the Dorsolateral Prefrontal Cortex for Speech and Language Processing

open access: yesFrontiers in Human Neuroscience, 2021
This review article summarizes various functions of the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC) that are related to language processing. To this end, its connectivity with the left-dominant perisylvian language network was considered, as well as its ...

Algebraic Quantum Error-Correction Codes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Based on the group structure of a unitary Lie algebra, a scheme is provided to systematically and exhaustively generate quantum error correction codes, including the additive and nonadditive codes.

Linear Block Coding for Efficient Beam Discovery in Millimeter Wave Communication Networks

open access: yes, 2017
The surge in mobile broadband data demands is expected to surpass the available spectrum capacity below 6 GHz. This expectation has prompted the exploration of millimeter wave (mm-wave) frequency bands as a candidate technology for next generation ...

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Simple Rate-1/3 Convolutional and Tail-Biting Quantum Error-Correcting Codes

open access: yes, 2005
Simple rate-1/3 single-error-correcting unrestricted and CSS-type quantum convolutional codes are constructed from classical self-orthogonal $\F_4$-linear and $\F_2$-linear convolutional codes, respectively.

Refractive Errors and Strabismus in Down's Syndrome in Korea [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Ophthalmology, 2012
The aims of this study were to examine the distribution of refractive errors and clinical characteristics of strabismus in Korean patients with Down's syndrome.A total of 41 Korean patients with Down's syndrome were screened for strabismus and refractive errors in 2009.A total of 41 patients with an average age of 11.9 years (range, 2 to 36 years) were

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

The evaluation of phonological profiles in the fragile x syndrome through error rates

open access: yesINFAD, 2017
Scientific advances over the past few decades have permitted the identification of the, until recently, relatively unknown syndromes within the non-specific field traditionally defined as “mental retardation or deficiency”.

Fidelity threshold for long-range entanglement in quantum networks

open access: yes, 2010
We present a strategy to generate long-range entanglement in noisy quantum networks. We consider a cubic lattice whose bonds are partially entangled mixed states of two qubits, and where quantum operations can be applied perfectly at the nodes.

Serotonergic Medication Error: A Case Report of Serotonin Syndrome

open access: yesCureus, 2023
Serotonin syndrome (SS) describes a life-threatening clinical condition that can develop within hours or days after taking serotonergic medication(s). Medication adverse reactions, overdose, or drug interactions can cause this syndrome. Patients often present with symptoms of hyperthermia, muscle rigidity, hyperreflexia, and clonus.
