Contribution of non‐orthogonal multiple access signalling to practical multibeam satellite deployments

open access: yesInternational Journal of Satellite Communications and Networking, Volume 44, Issue 1, Page 73-88, January/February 2026.
The potential gains of NOMA were evaluated in a satellite system with heterogeneous receivers, after considering the use of specific DVB‐S2X MODCODs, along with the impact of non‐linearities. It was concluded that a judicious power allocation in NOMA, jointly optimized with the IBO of the PAs, can yield significant sum‐rate gains.

Tunable Topological Directional Supercoupler and Applications in THz On‐Chip Communication

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, Volume 20, Issue 1, 8 January 2026.
A topological directional supercoupler is demonstrated, enabling dual‐channel 50 Gbps on‐chip terahertz communication with phototunable power splitting ratios. The achieved sub‐wavelength scale coupling area, sharp waveguide bends, and momentum‐conserved coupling process allow for ultra‐compact and efficient terahertz topological photonic integrated ...

Hybrid STA With FNN and CNN Models for Robust Channel Estimation in Turbulent FSO and Doppler‐Affected OFDM transmission for LEO Satellite Communication

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
A hybrid framework of deep learning‐based channel estimation for robust communication in free space optical (FSO)‐based low earth orbit (LEO) satellite system using advanced modulation formats for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) transmission. Simulations demonstrate that STA‐ SRCNN and STA‐DNCNN excel in terrestrial FSO channels (NMSE

Optical Digital‐To‐Analog Converters (oDACs): A Solution to Overcome the Limitations of Conventional High‐Speed Optical Transmitters

open access: yesIET Optoelectronics, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
Conventional optical transmitters face limitations in bandwidth and power consumption, prompting the development of alternative "Optical DAC" (oDAC) architectures. These oDACs utilise lower‐order eDACs with multiple Mach‐Zehnder Modulators in serial or parallel configurations, enabling ultra‐high data rates.

Identification of PpTHE1, a cell wall integrity sensor regulating the increased duration of harvest window in slow‐melting flesh peach, through the assembly of a chromosome‐level reference genome of Prunus persica

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 10, Page 4228-4245, October 2025.
Summary Slow‐melting flesh (SMF) in peaches offers many advantages, including easy transportation, maintaining flavour after ripening, an extended harvest window, and reduced losses caused by fruit softening. However, the underlying molecular mechanism remains elusive.
