An oligonucleotide probe for the detection of Erwinia herbicola and Erwinia ananas

Journal of General Plant Pathology, 2006
An oligonucleotide probe targeting the rRNA of Erwinia herbicola and Erwinia ananas was designed to detect their cells using fluorescence in situ hybridization. The Cy3-labeled probe hybridized strongly with these species but very weakly with nontarget species such as Erwinia mallotivora, Erwinia nigrifluens, Erwinia cypripedii, Erwinia chrysanthemi ...

Amber suppressors of Erwinia chrysanthemi

Annales de l'Institut Pasteur / Microbiologie, 1987
Mutations trp1 and thyA1, both of a polyauxotrophic derivative of the Erwinia chrysanthemi strain B374, were characterized as amber mutations with an Escherichia coli suppressor, supA1P2, which inserts a glutamine in response to UAG. Simultaneous reversion of both mutations allowed us to isolate amber suppressor mutants of E. chrysanthemi.

Erwinia Conjunctivitis in Children

Pediatrics, 1972
The recovery of the gram-negative rod Erwinia from human sources is being reported with increasing frequency. It has been demonstrated as the pathogenic organism contaminating infusion sets and associated with bacteremia. The organism has been recovered from skin infections, ear infections, blood cultures, bone marrow, and a brain abscess.

Chemotaxes of Erwinia Carotovora Subsp. Carotovora and Erwinia Chrysanthemi

1987
The chemotactic responses of Erwinia carotovora subsp. carotovora W27 (Ecc) and E. chrysanthemi RA3 (Ech) were studied by the Adler’s capillary technique. Ecc and Ech exhibited positive chemotaxes toward a variety of sugars, amino acids and organic acids.

Effect of Erwinia Herbicola on the Motility and Chemotaxis of Erwinia Amylovora

1987
Erwiniaherbicola (112Y), a common leaf saprophyte, has been reported to inhibit apple blossom infection by Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of fire blight of Rosaceous plants. Optimum conditions required for motility and chemotaxis in E. herbicola (112Y) were determined by the capillary assay. To better understand the saprophyte’s role in preventing

Extracellular polysaccharide of Erwinia chrysanthemi

Carbohydrate Research, 1995
Abstract The extracellular polysaccharide (EPS) produced by E. chrysanthemi pv. zeae strain SR260, a strain pathogenic to corn, has a branched hexasaccharide repeat unit consisting of a glucomannorhamnan backbone [ → 3)-β- d - Glc p-(1 → 4)-α- d - Man p-(1 → 3)-α- l - Rha p-(1 → ] and a trisaccharide side-chain [ α- l - Rha ...

Biological control of Erwinia amylovora by Erwinia herbicola

1993
A naturally-occurring Erwinia herbicola strain, Eh1087, inhibitory to Erwinia amylovora (Burr.) Winslow et al. (1920) was isolated from apple blossom (Malus X. domestica Borkh.) in a Canterbury orchard. Total populations of E. herbicola on apple blossoms in Canterbury and Hawkes Bay orchards were low (less than 50 cfu.blossom-1) throughout flowering ...

EXOPOLYSACCHARIDES IN PATHOGENICITY OF ERWINIA AMYLOVORA

Acta Horticulturae, 1993
The genetics of the two major exopolysaccharides of Erwinia amylovora, levan and amylovoran, were determined. Transposon mutants lacking levan synthesis were fully virulent on immature pears and showed retarded fireblight symptoms on shoots of pear seedlings.

Pectic enzymes of Erwinia carotovora

Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1953
Abstract A culture of Erwinia carotovora isolated from rotted Mexican bell pepper liberated methanol practically quantitatively from pectin when growing in a pectin medium. This phenomenon is considered to be positive evidence of pectinesterase activity. Polygalacturonase could not be demonstrated directly in the culture medium containing actively
