Changes in the microbiome and metabolome in captive red kangaroos (Osphranter rufus) affected by macropod progressive periodontal disease

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Macropod progressive periodontal disease (MPPD) is a severe oral condition frequently observed in captive macropods, particularly red kangaroos (Osphranter rufus), yet its underlying biological features remain poorly understood. In this exploratory descriptive study, we investigated oral and fecal microbiomes and metabolomic profiles in captive red ...

In‐depth analysis of osmotic gradient ektacytometry parameters across different genotypes in hereditary spherocytosis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Hereditary spherocytosis (HS) is a hereditary haemolytic anaemia, caused by pathogenic variants in genes encoding red blood cell membrane proteins. Osmotic gradient ektacytometry evaluates red cell deformability and hydration and is increasingly used in the diagnosis of HS.

Red blood cell membrane proteome as a reporter of disease severity, transfusion impact and genetic background in transfusion‐dependent β‐thalassaemia

open access: yesBritish Journal of Haematology, EarlyView.
Summary Omics technologies have transformed research in haemoglobinopathies, yet the proteome of RBCs remains largely unexplored in transfusion‐dependent thalassaemia (TDT). In this proteomic analysis, Red blood cell (RBC) membranes from 48 adults with TDT were compared with healthy controls.

AMSC‐sEVs Ameliorated Crohn's Disease by Inhibiting Macrophage‐Myofibroblast Transition Through the Delivery of MFGE8

open access: yesCell Proliferation, EarlyView.
Our study demonstrated that TGF‐β1 activated MAPK signalling pathway and promoted the MMT and secretion of CCL17 under CD‐associated intestinal inflammatory conditions. AMSC‐sEVs can deliver MFGE8, which inhibits MMT and CCL17‐mediated Treg recruitment by suppressing the MAPK signalling pathway, thereby alleviating intestinal fibrosis.

National Bleeding Disorder Foundation Clinical Practice Recommendations for Laboratory Screening of Iron Deficiency With and Without Anemia in the Inherited Bleeding Disorders Population

open access: yesHaemophilia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The National Bleeding Disorder Foundation (NBDF) Medical and Scientific Advisory Council (MASAC) was formed in 1954 and issues recommendations and advisories pertinent to the bleeding disorders community. MASAC is comprised of > 25 rotating members from different medical disciplines and lived experience experts.
