Effects of Buflomedil on Erythrocyte Deformability
Angiology, 1981This brief communication outlines re cent experiments on the effects of buflo medil, a new vasoactive agent, on red cell deformability in patients with leg ischemia. In this randomized, double-blind cross-over study, 10 patients received 200 mg buflomedil and matching placebo intravenously.

Erythrocyte Deformability in Sickle‐Cell Crisis
British Journal of Haematology, 1981Summary. A serial study of erythrocyte deformability, plasma viscosity, and whole‐blood viscosity has been made during 10 sickle‐cell vaso‐occlusive crises. The peak serum lactate dehydrogenase level was used to confirm the duration of crisis and the rheological changes were compared with 19 estimations made on the same patients when asymptomatic ...

Deformational strain energy and erythrocyte shape
Journal of Biomechanics, 1986Analyses of erythrocyte deformation commonly assume the discocytic shape to be unstressed and hence to be without strain energy. This assumption is based on micropipet experiments and a theoretical disparity between observed and requisite curvature rigidity.

[Disorders of erythrocyte deformability].
Anesteziologiia i reanimatologiia, 1994The literature data on the disturbances of the deformability of erythrocyte membranes (DEM) in different conditions have been reviewed. The diseases characterized by reduced DEM have been enumerated. The causes of disturbed DEM have been indicated and the devices and methods investigating it have been outlined.

Decreased Erythrocyte Deformability in Cholestatic Jaundice
Acta Haematologica, 1971The anemia in experimental cholestatic jaundice has been studies in rabbits. A decreased erythrocyte deformability has been found in bile duct ligated animals and failed to be traceable in sham ...

Effect of sphering on erythrocyte deformability
Biorheology, 1972The deformability of sphered erythrocytes produced in vitro by fragmentation loss of membrane in a glass micropipette or by heating at 48°C has been compared to spheres in metabolically depleted blood and in spheres from blood bank blood by measuring the pressure for passage through a 2.8-μ micropipette.

Influence of erythrocyte deformability on circulation
Research in Experimental Medicine, 1973In an isolated perfused guinea pig liver the influence of low deformable erythrocytes on blood flow has been tested. Down to 30% reduced deformability of red cells resulted in a significant reduction of flow peculiarly at low pressures. Decrease of venous out-flow hematocrit at nearly normal liver weight indicated slowly circulating rigid red cells ...

[Erythrocyte deformability: physiological aspects].
Uspekhi fiziologicheskikh nauk, 2001Analysis of published and author's data on the physiological role of deformability of erythrocytes, general mechanisms of modifications and disturbances, assessment methods, and the role of this blood feature for assessing the body status. This parameter is one of the most labile features of blood that shows highly sensitive reaction to practically any
