INTRAMEMBRANE PARTICLE AGGREGATION IN ERYTHROCYTE GHOSTS [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Cell Biology, 1974
We have used freeze-etching and SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to study the conditions under which the intramembrane particles of the human erythrocyte ghost may be aggregated. The fibrous membrane protein, spectrin, can be almost entirely removed from erythrocyte ghosts with little or no change in the distribution of the particles.

Regulation of elastase and plasminogen activator secretion in resident and inflammatory macrophages by receptors for the Fc domain of immunoglobulin G. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
We have determined that the interaction of IgG-coated erythrocytes (EIgG) and complement-coated erythrocytes (EIgMC) with macrophage Fc and complement receptors, respectively, modulates the secretion of the neutral proteinases, elastase, and plasminogen ...

Navigating the Ethereal Tightrope: The Nanogenerator Manipulates Neurons for Immune Equilibrium

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 14, 9 March 2026.
This review explores how nanogenerators modulate neuroimmune responses, offering innovative strategies for treating neurological disorders. By interfacing with neural pathways, they enable precise control of immune activity, especially via vagus nerve stimulation.

Enhancement of the Yu and Ledeen gas-liquid chromatographic method for sialic acid estimation: use of methane chemical ionization mass fragmentography

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1980
The sialic acid present in erythrocyte ghosts was estimated by methane chemical ionization mass fragmentography of the trimethylsilyl methyl glycosides. The internal standard was 3,4,6-tris-trimethylsilyl-alpha-phenyl-2-deoxy-2-acetamide-D-glucosaminide,

Metabolic Reprogramming Driven by Trophoblasts and Decidual XCR1+PMN‐MDSC Crosstalk Controls Adverse Outcomes Associated With Advanced Maternal Age

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 16, 18 March 2026.
The interaction between trophoblasts and decidual polymorphonuclear myeloid‐derived suppressor cells (dPMN‐MDSCs) via the XCL1–XCR1 axis is crucial for fetal development during the third trimester. Disruption of this axis impairs FOXO1 activity and causes metabolic imbalance in dPMN‐MDSCs, contributing to adverse outcomes associated with advanced ...

Decreased Erythrocyte NA+,K+-ATPase Activity and Increased Plasma TBARS in Prehypertensive Patients

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2012
The essential hypertension has been associated with membrane cell damage. The aim of the present study is investigate the relationship between erythrocyte Na+,K+-ATPase and lipoperoxidation in prehypertensive patients compared to normotensive status. The

Chloride binding to the anion transport binding sites of band 3. A 35Cl NMR study [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
Band 3 is an integral membrane protein that exchanges anions across the red cell membrane. Due to the abundance and the high turnover rate of the band 3 transport unit, the band 3 system is the most heavily used ion-transport system in a typical ...

Non‐cognate CD8 Binding to MHC I Promotes Positive Selection of an MHC‐E Restricted CD8 T Cell Population

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 56, Issue 3, March 2026.
Mouse Qa1b‐restricted T cells show promiscuous requirements for positive selection. Using in vivo tetramer enrichment, in vitro APC engineering, and in vitro thymocyte stimulation, we demonstrate that a Qa1b‐restricted T cell population can be selected by both Qa1b and H2‐T11, and depends on non‐cognate CD8‐MHC I binding.

Energized endocytosis in human erythrocyte ghosts. [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Investigation, 1975
The mechanism of endocytosis in resealed human erythrocyte ghosts was studied. The energy for endocytosis or micropinocytosis appears to be derived from Mg-ATP, and membrane internalization is preceded by activation of a membrane-associated Ca,Mg-ATPase and by the active efflux of Ca. Endocytosis, Ca,Mg-ATPase activity, and active Ca efflux all require
