Microscopic and thermodynamic evaluation of vesicles shed by erythrocytes at elevated temperatures [PDF]
Erythrocytes and vesicles shed by erythrocytes from human and rat blood were collected and analyzed after temperature was elevated by physical exercise or by exposure to external heat. The images of erythrocytes and vesicles were analyzed by the light microscopy system with spatial resolution of better than 90 nm.

Can morphological changes of erythrocytes be driven by hemoglobin? [PDF]
At 49 C erythrocytes undergo morphological changes due to an internal force, but the origin of the force that drives changes is not clear. Here we point out that our recent experiments on thermally induced force-release in hemoglobin can provide an explanation for the morphological changes of erythrocytes.

The C-terminal portion of the cleaved HT motif is necessary and sufficient to mediate export of proteins from the malaria parasite into its host cell [PDF]
The malaria parasite exports proteins across its plasma membrane and a surrounding parasitophorous vacuole membrane, into its host erythrocyte. Most exported proteins contain a Host Targeting motif (HT motif) that targets them for export. In the parasite

Shape changes and motion of a vesicle in a fluid using a lattice Boltzmann model [PDF]
We study the deformation and motion of an erythrocyte in fluid flows via a lattice Boltzmann method. To this purpose, the bending rigidity and the elastic modulus of isotropic dilation are introduced and incorporated with the lattice Boltzmann simulation, and the membrane-flow interactions on both sides of the membrane are carefully examined.

Inverse Association between trans Isomeric and Long-Chain Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Pregnant Women and Their Newborns: Data from Three European Countries [PDF]
Background: trans unsaturated fatty acids are thought to interfere with essential fatty acid metabolism. To extend our knowledge of this phenomenon, we investigated the relationship between trans isomeric and long-chain polyunsaturated fatty acids ...

Interaction between plant polyphenols and the erythrocyte membrane
The purpose of these studies was to determine the effect of polyphenols contained in extracts from apple, strawberry and blackcurrant on the properties of the erythrocyte membrane, treated as a model of the biological membrane. To this end, the effect of

Geometric Adjustment of T Cell‐Sensitive Nanorobots for Enhanced Stability
For the long‐term use of live dendritic cell (DC)‐based vaccines, nano bone marrow dendritic cell (BMDC) originated T cell activators (nano‐BOTs) are synthesized. The geometric properties of nanoparticles are precisely modulated, enhancing their stability and T cell activation capacity.
