Unusual presentation in Axenfeld-Rieger syndrome
We report an unusual presentation of a case of Axenfeld-Rieger (A-R) syndrome. A 14-year-old male presented with gradual dimness of vision for 1 year and redness of left eye for 3 days. The patient had megalocornea with Haab′s striae in the right eye and

Coarse-Grained Molecular Dynamics Modeling of Defective Erythrocyte Membrane and Sickle Hemoglobin Fibers [PDF]
In this work, we develop a two-component coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CGMD) model for simulating the erythrocyte membrane. This proposed model possesses the key feature of combing the lipid bilayer and the erythrocyte cytoskeleton, thus showing both the fluidic behavior of the lipid bilayer and elastic properties of the erythrocyte cytoskeleton ...

High glucose‐ and acid‐responsive hydrogel with dynamic covalent bond solubilized with flavonoids (Gel‐Flavonoids) is designed for diabetic wound healing. The Gel‐Flavonoids adapt to irregular wound shapes and release antioxidants in high‐glucose environments, effectively reducing reactive oxygen species.

Quantitative and qualitative changes of cellular elements in blood system in severe posthemorrhagic anemia (review) [PDF]
The article deals with the study of posthemorrhagic anemia. It points out that all the modern approaches to treatment of post hemorrhagic anemia are limited by analysis of quantitative parameters of red blood.

Nucleated Teleost Erythrocytes Play an Nk-Lysin- and Autophagy-Dependent Role in Antiviral Immunity
With the exception of mammals, vertebrate erythrocytes are nucleated. Nevertheless, these cells are usually considered as mere carriers of hemoglobin. In this work, however, we describe for the first time an unrecognized role of teleost red blood cells ...

Modeling Human Erythrocyte Shape and Size Abnormalities [PDF]
We present simple parametric equations in terms of Jacobi elliptic functions that provide a realistic model of the shape of human normal erythrocytes as well as of variations in size (anisocytosis) and shape (poikilocytosis) thereof. We illustrate our results with parameterizations of microcytes, macrocytes and stomatocytes, and show the applicability ...

Ceramide in Suicidal Death of Erythrocytes
The suicidal death of erythrocytes or eryptosis is characterized by cell shrinkage, membrane blebbing and cell membrane phospholipid scrambling resulting in phosphatidylserine exposure at the cell surface.
