Investigating the impact of surface soil moisture assimilation on state and parameter estimation in SWAT model based on the ensemble Kalman filter in upper Huai River basin

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology and Hydromechanics, 2017
This paper investigates the impact of surface soil moisture assimilation on the estimation of both parameters and states in the Soil and Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model using the ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) method in upper Huai River basin.

Reconciling Flagging Strategies for Multi-Sensor Satellite Soil Moisture Climate Data Records

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
Reliable soil moisture retrievals from passive microwave satellite sensors are limited during certain conditions, e.g., snow coverage, radio-frequency interference, and dense vegetation.

A Feedforward Neural Network for ESA CCI Soil Moisture Disaggregation

open access: yesIGARSS 2024 - 2024 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium
This study presents a methodology for disaggregating the ESA Climate Change Initiative (CCI) Soil Moisture (SM) maps from 0.25° to a 60 m grid, using a feedforward neural network. This technique is applied over an area of 66,700 km2 , encompassing parts of Oklahoma and Kansas (US), throughout 2021.

MiR‐513a promotes human erythroid differentiation by modulating c‐Jun

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
During early human erythropoiesis, miR‐513a promoted erythroid differentiation in primary human CD34+ hematopoietic stem‐progenitor cells and human TF‐1 erythroleukemic cells by indirectly decreasing c‐Jun and phospho‐c‐Jun expression, which are associated with increased GATA1 expression.

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Brief communication: Evaluation of the ESA CCI+ ESMR v1.1 sea-ice concentration product [PDF]

open access: yesThe Cryosphere
I evaluated a novel NIMBUS-5 Electrically Scanning Microwave Radiometer (ESMR) sea-ice concentration (SIC) data product. 50 Landsat-1 Multispectral Scanner (MSS) images obtained in the Northern Hemisphere during 1974 were manually classified into open ...

Risk Prediction Models for Recurrence After Curative Treatment of Early‐Stage or Locally Advanced Lung Cancer: A Systematic Review

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This systematic review synthesizes prognostic models for survival and recurrence in resected non‐small cell lung cancer. While many models demonstrate moderate to good discrimination, few are externally validated and reporting quality is variable, limiting clinical applicability and highlighting the need for robust, transparent model development ...

Downscaling of ESA CCI soil moisture in Taihu Lake Basin: are wetness conditions and non-linearity important?

open access: yesJournal of Water and Climate Change, 2021
The coarse spatial resolutions of satellite-based soil moisture (SM) products restrict their applications at smaller spatial scales. In this study, the monthly European Space Agency Climate Change Initiative SM data (ESA CCI SM) from 2000 to 2016 was ...

Mycophenolate Mofetil Treatment Reduces the Risk of Treatment Escalation Due to Vascular Complications in Limited Cutaneous Systemic Sclerosis: Emulation of a Target Trial From the Italian Rheumatology Society SPRING Registry

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Mycophenolate mofetil (MMF) use in limited cutaneous systemic sclerosis (lcSSc) is relatively uncommon because of the lower fibrotic burden and the predominance of vascular complications. In vitro observations and clinical data from transplanted patients suggest a protective effect of MMF on endothelial function.
