Incidence of symptoms and fungal pathogens associated with grapevine trunk diseases in Czech vineyards: first example from a north-eastern European grape-growing region

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2018
Grapevine trunk diseases (GTD) are one of the most important constraints for grapevine and wine production worldwide. Most of the published studies on these diseases in Europe relate to the major vine growing regions mainly located in southern Europe ...

Comprehensive transcriptomic analysis of cell lines as models of primary tumors across 22 tumor types. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Cancer cell lines are a cornerstone of cancer research but previous studies have shown that not all cell lines are equal in their ability to model primary tumors.

Correlations between the nuclear breathing mode energy and properties of asymmetric nuclear matter

open access: yes, 2012
Based on microscopic Hartree-Fock + random phase approximation calculations with Skyrme interactions, we study the correlations between the nuclear breathing mode energy $E_{ISGMR}$ and properties of asymmetric nuclear matter with a recently developed ...

Regenerative Polyphenolic Free‐Standing Conductive Film

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, EarlyView.
A rare combination of self‐assembly, spontaneous regeneration, and free‐standing form is achieved from initially non‐conductive polyphenol–amine complexes. The resulting films, assembled at the air/water interface and carbonized in one step, demonstrate flexibility, conductivity, and scalability.

Auger and ESCA analysis [PDF]

open access: yes
X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS or ESCA) and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) techniques are discussed. The XPS instrument is a Perkin-Elmer 5400 system which provides both elemental and chemical state information without restriction on the type ...

Transitions in the morphological features, habitat use, and diet of young-of-the-year goosefish (Lophius americanus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This study was designed to improve our understanding of transitions in the early life history and the distribution, habitat use, and diets for young-of-the-year (YOY) goosefish (Lophius americanus) and, as a result, their role in northeastern U.S ...

Adverse effects of grapevine trunk diseases on canes produced from infected rootstock mother blocks

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
High incidences of GTD pathogens in rootstock mother vine heads, with Phaeomoniella chlamydospora and Diplodia seriata affecting cane physiology and quality. One‐year‐old canes harbor systemic inoculum, highlighting the need for careful monitoring and management.

Hymenochaetales associated with esca-related wood rots on grapevine with a special emphasis on the status of esca in South African vineyards

open access: yesPhytopathologia Mediterranea, 2015
Esca disease is a problem on grapevines worldwide. This disease complex is characterised by several external and internal symptoms including foliar tiger-stripe chlorosis and necrosis, dieback, wood necrosis and white rot.

Extinction imaging of a single quantum emitter in its bright and dark states

open access: yes, 2008
Room temperature detection of single quantum emitters has had a broad impact in fields ranging from biophysics to material science, photophysics, or even quantum optics. These experiments have exclusively relied on the efficient detection of fluorescence.

Changes in phenolic production of Vitis vinifera cell cultures induced by Phaeomoniella chlamydospora elicitation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A esca é uma doença que afecta plantas da espécie Vitis vinifera levando a importantes perdas na produção de vinho. O fungo Phaeomoniella chlamydospora (PC) é frequentemente associado a plantas de videira com esca e declínio das vinhas.
