Esca is a grapevine wood disease that seriously affects vine yield and longevity. Our knowledge of this disease and its causes has changed profoundly in recent years, as it has become clear that esca in fact comprises a number of distinct diseases and that the main fungal agents (primarily vascular pathogens) invade the vines not only through wounds ...

ESCA applied to liquids. ESCA spectra from molecular ions in solution
Chemical Physics Letters, 1976Abstract The application of ESCA to solutions of molecular ions is described. As an example is chosen the N-methyl-glucamine salt of 5-[ p -(2-pyridylsulfamoyl)phenylazo] salicylic acid. It is shown that by exchange of one of the ions in the solution the ESCA spectra of the individual ionic components may be deduced.

Abstract The conditions for applying ESCA on liquid samples are discussed. A “liquid beam” technique is developed which meets the various requirements. The first spectrum of a liquid is presented, namely from formamide. It is shown that one can adjust the liquid beam so that a complete separation between the ESCA signals from the liquid and the ...

ESCA‐Untersuchungen an Prussiaten

Phosphorus and Sulfur and the Related Elements, 1983
Abstract The nature of the P[dbnd]P bond in E-bis(2,4,6-tri-tert-butylphenyl)diphosphene was studied by means of ESCA, indicating that the phosphorus 2p binding energy is the lowest among those for common organophosphorus compounds.
