ESCA for microelectronic applications

Proceedings, annual meeting, Electron Microscopy Society of America, 1983
As the dimensions of microelectronic devices continue to shrink, the use of surface sensitive analysis techniques to characterize thin film structures continues to grow. These techniques including: ESCA or XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy), AES (Auger electron spectroscopy), SIMS (secondary ion mass spectroscopy) and ISS (ion scattering ...

ESCA: Biomedical Studies

2021
Electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) is perhaps the most valuable single technique available for the analysis of the surfaces of materials intended for biomedical studies. This paper will consider why surface analysis is important for these systems, why ESCA can be used to obtain information of value and how ESCA has been applied to ...

ESCA applied to liquids IV. A wire system for ESCA measurements on liquids

Journal of Electron Spectroscopy and Related Phenomena, 1975
Abstract A wire system for ESCA investigations of liquids is described. It uses a thin wire which is continuously coated with liquid and moved past the entrance The study of liquids with ESCA has great potential and already the first results obtained so far are quite promising.

CaF2: An ESCA Study

1988
This paper describes two observations made on CaF2 during electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis (ESCA) studies. The first observation is that an ion-etched CaF2 surface adsorbs several layers of water even in an ultrahigh vacuum (UHV) chamber (P ∼ 2×10-10 torr).

ESCA in Polymer Spectroscopy

1984
Electron Spectroscopy for Chemical Analysis (or Applications) — ESCA — is based on the following principle1, 2): monochromatic short-wavelength radiation is used in order to detach electrons from the sample, the kinetic energy of the electrons being measured by means of an electron analyser.

Laboratory ESCA imaging

OSA Annual Meeting, 1993
This paper, being a presentation of laboratory imaging ESCA instrumentation, will begin with a brief historical review of the various methods that have been used in the past to generate X-ray induced photoelectron images of surfaces using fairly standard laboratory ESCA equipment.

New Applications of ESCA

1984
The importance of strong specific interactions in polymer adhesion (eg., covalent bonding, acid-base interaction) is well-known. However, these interactions are difficult to study directly, particularly for multifunctional surfaces. Derivatisation techniques have been developed which allow X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (ESCA) to quantify functional ...

Effects of biostimulants on esca

2008
Biostimulants are compounds that influence plant physiological processes producing faster growing and healthier plants and enhanced stress tolerance. The esca complex is correlated with host-plant physiology and can be also considered a stress-related disease.
