Shocking Escapes

open access: yes
Sargent's (1999) model of inflation is amended to include real oil prices and used to study the impact of exogenous supply shocks on the inflation time-series. We analyse whether these shocks can trigger escape-like episodes.

Rethinking Charge Transport and Recombination in Donor‐Diluted Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Organic solar cells with 1–45% PM6 content in Y12 were studied to link structure and charge dynamics to performance. The conductivity follows a 3D percolation model without a sharp threshold. Donor dilution preserves the photogeneration yield, but limits the fill factor due to transport resistance losses.

High Center‐of‐Mass, Multi‐Legged Soft Robots Powered by Geometrically Encoded Liquid Crystal Elastomer Arc Appendages

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Inspired by the octopus and the golden wheel spider, soft robots with liquid crystal elastomer arc fibers as appendages are fabricated to transcend surface constraints through an elevated center of mass and minimal contact footprints. By leveraging curvature‐encoded deformation‐recovery cycles, these robots exhibit contractile, torsional, and flexural ...

Sound Escapes

open access: yes, 2009
Sound Escapes examines the very nature of sound. Why is one person’s disturbing noise another’s intriguing sonic landscape? In what ways are our emotions affected by sound? Are plants affected by music? Can you hear a photograph?

A Porous Interfacial Photothermal Layer of Fused Core–Shell Carbon‐Polymer Nanospheres for Directional Salt Crystallization and Zero‐Liquid‐Discharge

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical hydrogel evaporator with a thin, porous photothermal layer of fused core–shell carbon‐polymer nanospheres enables ultrafast interfacial solar evaporation with minimized heat loss and sufficient water supply. Directional advection‐dominated brine transport, coupled with Marangoni‐driven interfacial flow, drives salt away from the active ...

Light Escapes Us

open access: yes, 2016
Light Escapes Us: The lynchpin of these poems hinges around anecdotes of identity, provisional cultures, and a legacy of silence. Both the light that comes from within us and that same light which often escapes our grasp are stripped of their bushel ...

From Behavior to Dynamics: Decoding Carrier Roles in Cu‐based Photocathodes for Solar‐Driven CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The performance of Cu‐based photocathodes in photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction is not governed by catalytic sites alone, but by the dynamic journey of photogenerated carriers. This review decodes how carrier generation, recombination, transport, accumulation, extraction, and electrolyte coupling shape catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability ...
