Distinct Distribution Patterns of Dissolved and Particulate Trace Metals in Surface Waters of the Amundsen Sea: From Polynya to Open Waters

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, Volume 53, Issue 12, 28 June 2026.
Abstract Trace metals regulate Southern Ocean productivity, but their cycling across Antarctic marginal‐sea gradients remains poorly constrained. We measured dissolved, labile particulate, and refractory particulate Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cd, and Pb across the Amundsen Sea Polynya (ASP), sea‐ice zone (SIZ), and Oceanic Area (OA), alongside iron‐addition ...

Application of Environmental Seismic Intensity scale (ESI 2007) to Krn Mountains 1998 Mw = 5.6 earthquake (NW Slovenia) with emphasis on rockfalls

open access: yesNatural Hazards and Earth System Sciences, 2012
The 12 April 1998 Mw = 5.6 Krn Mountains earthquake with a maximum intensity of VII–VIII on the EMS-98 scale caused extensive environmental effects in the Julian Alps. The application of intensity scales based mainly on damage to buildings was limited in the epicentral area, because it is a high mountain area and thus very sparsely populated.

Total Synthesis and Antimalarial Studies of Caelestines A–C

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Total synthesis of caelestines A–C (alkaloids from the Australian ascidian, Aplidium caelestis) was accomplished, constituting the first synthesis of caelestines B and C. Caelestines A–C, with five other novel quinolones, were assessed against Plasmodium falciparum 3D7 and Dd2. Caelestine B was found to be a selective antimalarial alkaloid. Caelestines

Compositional Characterization, Quality Parameters, and Physicochemical and Bioactive Properties of Pequi ( Caryocar brasiliense ) Oils From Xingu and Cerrado in Mato Grosso, Brazil

open access: yesJournal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, Volume 103, Issue 6, Page 609-622, June 2026.
Cerrado oil is richer in MUFA and antioxidant compounds, while Xingu oil shows higher SFA and enhanced oxidative stability, reinforcing the potential of pequi oil as a sustainable bioactive ingredient. ABSTRACT Pequi ( Caryocar brasiliense ) is a native fruit widely distributed in Brazilian biomes, specially in Cerrado, known for its high oil yield and

Application of the environmental seismic intensity scale (ESI 2007) and the european macroseismic scale (EMS-98) to the Kalamata (SW Peloponnese, Greece) earthquake (Ms=6.2, september 13, 1986) and correlation with neotectonic structures and active faults

open access: yes, 2013
On September 13, 1986, a shallow earthquake (Ms=6.2) struck the city of Kalamata and the surrounding areas (SW Peloponnese, Greece) resulting in 20 fatalities, over 300 injuries, extensive structural damage and many earthquake environmental effects (EEE).

A critical revision of Salento peninsula seismicity: the case of the february 20, 1743 earthquake and related environmental effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The area of the Salento peninsula (Apulia, Southern Italy) is considered the stable foreland of the Southern Apennines chain (Cinque et al., 1993), although it has been hit by several low energy and a few high energy earthquakes over the last centuries ...

Macroseismic intensity evaluation for the seismic hazard assessment in the third millennium.

open access: yes, 2016
The aim of this paper is to highlight the importance of the proper assessment of macroseismic intensity evaluation of earthquakes, that can be considered “ethical” for defining the seismic hazard of a region.

Effect of Reaction Time and Temperature on the Impurity Profile of Amphetamine in the Leuckart Method

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 725-738, June 2026.
This study investigates the effect of the reaction temperature (step 1) and reaction time (step 1 and 2) on the conversion efficiency and impurity profile of amphetamine synthesized via the Leuckart method. Conversion efficiency and impurity profile were assessed using gas chromatography–flame ionization detection (GC–FID) and GC–mass spectrometry (GC ...

Satellite hindcasts of foliar traits reveal a subtle but consistent relaxation of conservativeness in a biodiverse mountain grassland over the last four decades

open access: yesEcography, Volume 2026, Issue 6, June 2026.
Projected warming and drying raise concerns about the resilience of stress‐adapted ecosystems, including the Brazilian Campo Rupestre, an exceptionally biodiverse mountaintop grassland mosaic on ancient, nutrient‐poor substrates. Here, we combine field‐based trait data and long‐term remote sensing to assess the functional structure and temporal ...
