Association of Mean Nocturnal Baseline Impedance and AFS EGJ Grading With AET‐Defined Reflux Burden in Korean Patients

open access: yesJournal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Aim Diagnosing gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is challenging in borderline acid exposure time (AET). The Lyon Consensus 2.0 defines AET ≥ 6% as pathological reflux; however, East Asian standards often apply a 4% threshold, creating a diagnostic gray zone.

Syrinx anatomy and vocalizations in New World vultures (Aves: Cathartidae): Implications for avian vocal evolution

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, EarlyView.
New World vultures are the only avian clade proposed to lack a syrinx and have been described as non‐vocal. Using dissection, diceCT, and histology, we demonstrate that cathartid vultures have novel syringeal features that form a syrinx and vocal characterization reveals that they produce more complex vocalizations than previously reported.
