Artificial intelligence in preclinical epilepsy research: Current state, potential, and challenges

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, EarlyView.
Abstract Preclinical translational epilepsy research uses animal models to better understand the mechanisms underlying epilepsy and its comorbidities, as well as to analyze and develop potential treatments that may mitigate this neurological disorder and its associated conditions. Artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a transformative tool across

A first-in-human study of AMG 208, an oral MET inhibitor, in adult patients with advanced solid tumors. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BackgroundThis first-in-human study evaluated AMG 208, a small-molecule MET inhibitor, in patients with advanced solid tumors.MethodsThree to nine patients were enrolled into one of seven AMG 208 dose cohorts (25, 50, 100, 150, 200, 300, and 400 mg ...

Sizing and concentration analysis of cfDNA using Biabooster technology: Results from a prospective plasma‐based collection of 77 patients with locally advanced unresectable esophageal cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? This study introduces a novel approach for detecting locally advanced esophageal carcinoma using cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) analysis through a highly sensitive fragmentome assay. Unlike traditional sequencing‐based methods that are limited by the absence of specific mutations in esophageal tumors, our method offers an alternative by quantifying ...

Outcomes and risk factors of hemorrhage in patients with resected brain metastases

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Brain metastases may present with hemorrhage, yet risk factors and clinical outcomes remain unclear. Based on a cohort of 880 patients with resected brain metastases, this study identified tumor volume and primary tumor histology (melanoma and non‐small cell lung cancer) as key predictors of hemorrhage.

Exploratory study on the impact of intraesophageal pressure on quality of life in patients following total gastrectomy: a retrospective cohort study

open access: yesBMC Surgery
Background The usefulness of high-resolution impedance manometry (HRIM) in patients who underwent total gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y (R-Y) anastomosis has never been well validated.

Clinical characteristics, treatment response, and survival outcomes in melanoma patients with cavity carcinomatosis: A retrospective analysis

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Cavity carcinomatosis, a late manifestation of cancer, fuels tumor formation throughout a large area, most commonly the peritoneal and pleural cavities. The condition also can lead to resistance to otherwise effective treatment strategies.

Move beyond free radical theory of aging

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
Free radicals play a dual, dose‐dependent role in aging. Low levels activate the key sensor adenosine 5'‐monophosphate‐activated protein kinase (AMPK), promoting cell survival mechanisms like autophagy and enhancing mitochondrial health. High levels, however, push AMPK to initiate cell death pathways, such as apoptosis. This positions AMPK as a central
