Renal cell carcinoma metastasizing to adenocarcinoma of esophagogastric junction: A rare case of tumor-to-tumor metastasis

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2012
The simultaneous occurrence of two primary tumors in one patient is not uncommon, but one tumor metastasizing to another malignancy is a rare phenomenon. Tumor-to-tumor metastasis was first described by Berent in 1902.

Prognostic Impact of Splenectomy in Patients with Esophagogastric Junction Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesIn Vivo, 2018
We evaluated the survival benefit of splenectomy in patients with esophagogastric junction (ECJ) carcinoma. We retrospectively examined clinicopathological and survival data for 60 surgically-treated patients with ECJ carcinoma. The 5-year overall survival (OS) rate was 47%. Splenectomy was performed in 20 patients (30%).

Treatment of esophagogastric junction carcinoma: An unsolved debate [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastroenterology, 2015
The incidence of esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma (AEG) is increasing worldwide. Barrett's esophagus (BE) associated with dysplasia is the main risk factor for the development of cancer. Currently, screening programs to individuate and eradicate BE represent the best way to reduce AEG cancer.

Ulcerative Esophagitis With Marked Eosinophilic Infiltration and Fluorodeoxyglucose–Positron Emission Tomography Positivity Requiring Differentiation From Esophagogastric Junction Carcinoma [PDF]

open access: yesDEN Open, Volume 7, Issue 1, April 2027.
ABSTRACT Esophagitis with marked eosinophilic infiltration, including eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), can rarely present with ulceration or stricture. We report a rare case of positron emission tomography–positive esophagitis with marked eosinophilic infiltration accompanied by ulceration and stricture, requiring differentiation from esophagogastric ...

Molecular classification of esophagogastric junction carcinoma correlated with prognosis [PDF]

open access: yesOncoTargets and Therapy, 2017
A novel molecular classification of gastric cancer by the Asian Cancer Research Group (ACRG) is a potential advance in diagnosis and treatment, and it helps to determine prognosis. The use of immunohistochemistry (IHC) rather than gene expression analysis to determine tumor subtypes was evaluated with the aim of determining the feasibility of using the
