Persisting Accommodative Esotropia

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1986
This report examines the persistence of many cases of accommodative esotropia well beyond the expected time of resolution (age 10 to 12 years) and the potential usefulness of any associated clinical features to predict timely or delayed disappearance.

Consecutive Cyclic Esotropia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1977
A 12-year-old girl who developed a cyclic esotropia following strabismus surgery for intermittent exotropia at the age of eight years is presented. Unusual findings and surgical results are described. We suggest the term of "consecutive cyclic esotropia" for this clinical entity.

Alternate Day Esotropia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1979
A six-year-old girl was noted to develop alternate day esotropia three years following surgery for a moderate "v" esotropia. Many of the usual features of cyclic esotropia, including moderate hypermetropia, mild amblyopia, moderate to large deviation, a 48-hour cyclic pattern, and a high AC/C ratio were present.

Exercise-Induced Esotropia

American Orthoptic Journal, 2008
The authors evaluated a 34-year-old man with exercise-induced diplopia. The diagnostic testing that led to this conclusion is discussed. To the authors' knowledge, this is a rarely reported condition that warrants discussion.

Cyclic "V" Esotropia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 2004
Abstract. A young girl had cyclic esotropia with cyclic inferior oblique overaction and "V" pattern. A recession-resection surgery of the horizontal rectus muscles and recession of the inferior oblique muscles cured the cyclic esotropia as well as the inferior oblique overaction and V pattern. Handedness and Esotropia

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1986
Questionnaires were completed by 1083 nonesotropic control subjects and 170 patients with nonparalytic esotropia to determine handedness. The subjects, who had been drawn from patients attending ophthalmic clinics and private practices, were classified as right-handed, left-handed, or ambidextrous based on their answers to five questions about hand ...

Acute thalamic esotropia

Neurology, 1988
Three men developed acute esotropia, stupor, and impaired upward gaze. Vestibulo-ocular stimulation showed that the adducted eye remained immobile while the fellow eye responded normally. The alteration of consciousness, the long-tract neurologic signs, and the esotropia quickly resolved.

Varying Esotropia-Exotropia

Journal of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Strabismus, 1985
ABSTRACT A 20-year old female was found to have an alternating pattern of right esotropia and right exotropia following surgery for a clivus chordoma three years previously. When esotropic, abduction was markedly limited while adduction was full in the right eye. When exotropic, mild limitation of both abduction and adduction was noted.

Postoperative Esotropia: Initial Overcorrection or Consecutive Esotropia?

European Journal of Ophthalmology, 2017
Purpose To investigate the length of time required for diagnosing consecutive esotropia rather than initial overcorrection and examine risk factors for persistent postoperative esotropia after intermittent exotropia surgery. Methods This is a retrospective case series in a tertiary medical center. Fifty consecutive patients with postoperative esotropia

Esotropia with an accommodative component after surgery for infantile esotropia compared to primary accommodative esotropia

Journal of American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus, 2017
To compare the clinical outcomes of patients with an esotropia with an accommodative component after infantile esotropia surgery and patients with primary refractive accommodative esotropia. The medical records of patients with postoperative (secondary group) and primary refractive accommodative esotropia (primary group) were reviewed retrospectively ...
