The Miners of South America: Impacts of Climate Change on the Distribution of Geositta Miners Along Elevational Gradients

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 1, January 2026.
We modeled the current and future distributions of seven Geositta species along elevational gradients in South America under two climate change scenarios. Our results show that most species are projected to lose suitable habitats, particularly under the high‐emission scenario, with distinct responses between lowland and highland taxa.

Morphological characterization of fruits, seeds and phases of germination Pachira aquatica Aubl. (Bombacaceae)
Caracterização morfológica de frutos, sementes e fases da germinação de Pachira aquatica Aubl. (Bombacaceae

open access: yesSemina: Ciências Agrárias, 2012
The mongubeira (Pachira aquatica Aubl) is a fruit used in urban forestry in many cities within the country and infrequent in their natural habitat in the forests periodically flooded the coast of Pará and Maranhão.

Growth–survival trade‐off in temperate trees is weak and restricted to late‐successional stages

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 11, Page 3466-3477, November 2025.
Our findings highlight a role of disturbances in filtering life‐history strategies and their potential impact on forest dynamics and global carbon cycling, but also a need to better understand the mediating processes of tree demographic trade‐offs.

Local and landscape features of urban fragments determine the occurrence of stingless bees As características locais e paisagísticas dos fragmentos urbanos determinam a ocorrência de uma espécie de abelhas sem ferrão

open access: yesInsect Conservation and Diversity, Volume 18, Issue 6, Page 1027-1036, November 2025.
Both local and landscape factors associated with habitat availability and quality determine the persistence of stingless bees across fragments. Places where the species occurs have local and landscape characteristics distinctive from those where it is absent.

Marked tree demographic variation along subtle elevation differences partially explains species' habitat associations in an Amazonian forest

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 113, Issue 10, Page 2860-2874, October 2025.
These findings show that even small differences in elevation can lead to biologically meaningful variation in resource access that translates into significant differences in tree growth and survival. However, resource access could not fully explain the patterns of topographically driven demographic variation we observed. While certain species may still

Avaliação do risco de extinção da irara Eira barbara (Linnaeus, 1758) no Brasil

open access: yesBiodiversidade Brasileira, 2013
Eira barbara tem uma ampla distribuição no Brasil, ocorrendo em todos os biomas. Não existem indicações de declínio populacional da espécie no país, apesar de informações sobre densidades populacionais referirem-se a localidades e biomas distintos ...

Surviving in a Warming and Fragmented World: Long‐Term Population Dynamics of the Lizard Gonatodes humeralis

open access: yesAustral Ecology, Volume 50, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Climate change presents significant challenges to species survival; however, the long‐term effects on tropical lizard populations remain poorly understood. Previous studies have predicted contrasting outcomes, with some forecasting a high risk of extinction due to rising temperatures, while others suggest greater resilience in tropical ...
