The Essential Norm of a Composition Operator
The Annals of Mathematics, 1987Let \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb{C}}^ n\) be a domain and \(\Phi: \Omega\to \Omega\) a mapping. The operator \(T: f\to f\circ \Phi\) is called a composition operator. The subject of composition operators represents a fertile arena for the interaction of operator theory, hard analysis, and geometry.

Against essential normativity of the mental
Philosophical Studies, 2007A number of authors have recently developed and defended various versions of ‘normative essentialism’ about the mental, i.e. the claim that propositional attitudes are constitutively or essentially governed by normative principles. I present two arguments to the effect that this claim cannot be right.

Essentialism and Nonnaturalist Normative Supervenience
Topoi, 2017In this essay I defend a kind of nonnaturalist normative supervenience, grounded in the essences of things. Essentialist theories, in fact, give us the tools to treat the nexus of normative supervenience as a nexus of metaphysical necessity, holding between the normative and the natural.

Essential norm of weighted composition operators
Analysis, 2018Abstract In the present paper we characterize the compact, invertible, Fredholm and closed range weighted composition operators on Cesàro function spaces. We also make an effort to compute the essential norm of weighted composition operators.

THE ESSENTIAL NORMS OF COMPOSITION OPERATORS ON WEIGHTED DIRICHLET SPACES
Bulletin of the Australian Mathematical Society, 2018Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D711}$ be an analytic self-map of the unit disc. If $\unicode[STIX]{x1D711}$ is analytic in a neighbourhood of the closed unit disc, we give a precise formula for the essential norm of the composition operator $C_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D711}}$ on the weighted Dirichlet spaces ${\mathcal{D}}_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FC}}$ for $\unicode[STIX]{

Let \(\mathbb T\) be the unit circle, \(W\) some weight function on \(\mathbb T\), \(L^2(W)\) the Lebesgue space on \(\mathbb T\) with norm \(\left\| f\right\|_{W}^2= \int_{\mathbb T}| f|^2W\,dm\), and \[ Sf(\zeta)=\frac1{\pi i}\int_{\mathbb T}\frac{f(\eta)}{\eta-\zeta}d\eta \] be the singular integral operator on \(L^2(W)\), understood in the sense of

Might We Be Essentially Normative Animals?
2019Abstract This chapter poses the question of whether humans might be essentially normative animals, i.e. whether traditionally prominent specificities of the human life form—our linguistic, social, and moral “natures”—might ground in a basic susceptibility, or proclivity to the deontic regulation of thought and behaviour: the “normative ...
