The Essential Norm of a Composition Operator
The Annals of Mathematics, 1987Let \(\Omega\subset{\mathbb{C}}^ n\) be a domain and \(\Phi: \Omega\to \Omega\) a mapping. The operator \(T: f\to f\circ \Phi\) is called a composition operator. The subject of composition operators represents a fertile arena for the interaction of operator theory, hard analysis, and geometry.

The essential norm of the integral type operators
Banach Journal of Mathematical Analysis, 2019On the basis of the characterizations of the boundedness and compactness of the Volterra type operator $$I_{g, \varphi }$$ from mixed-norm spaces $$H(p,\, q,\, \phi )$$ to Zygmund spaces $$ \mathcal {Z}$$, the authors provide a function-theoretic estimate for the essential norm of Volterra type operator $$I_{g, \varphi }$$ by means of the definition of

Against essential normativity of the mental
Philosophical Studies, 2007A number of authors have recently developed and defended various versions of ‘normative essentialism’ about the mental, i.e. the claim that propositional attitudes are constitutively or essentially governed by normative principles. I present two arguments to the effect that this claim cannot be right.

Essentialism and Nonnaturalist Normative Supervenience
Topoi, 2017In this essay I defend a kind of nonnaturalist normative supervenience, grounded in the essences of things. Essentialist theories, in fact, give us the tools to treat the nexus of normative supervenience as a nexus of metaphysical necessity, holding between the normative and the natural.

Essential norm of the difference of weighted composition operators
Monatshefte für Mathematik, 2007We study differences of weighted composition operators between weighted Banach spaces H ν ∞ of analytic functions with weighted sup-norms and give an expression for the essential norm of these differences. We apply our result to estimate the essential norm of differences of composition operators acting on

Essentially Grounded Non-Naturalism and Normative Supervenience [PDF]
Non-naturalism—roughly the view that normative properties and facts are sui generis and incompatible with a purely scientific worldview—faces a difficult challenge with regard to explaining why it is that the normative features of things supervene on their natural features.
