Distribution fitting 13. Analysis of independent, multiplicative effect of factors. Application to effect of essential oils extracts from plant species on bacterial species. Application to factors of antibacterial activity of plant species [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
A factor effect study was conducted on a set of observations at the contingency of a series of plant species and bacteria species regarding the antibacterial activity of essential oil extracts. The study reveals a very good agreement between the observations and the hypothesis of independent and multiplicative effect of plant and bacteria species ...

Control of potato late blight by caraway oil in organic farming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Caraway (Carum carvi) seeds contain biologically active essential oils, which have shown potential in controlling Phytophthora infestans (P.i.). An attempt is being made to develop a P.i.

Comparative Wear and Friction Analysis of Sliding Surface Materials for Hydrostatic Bearing under Oil Supply Failure Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Hydrostatic bearings excel in high‐precision applications, but their performance hinges on a continuous external supply. This study evaluates various material combinations for sliding surfaces to mitigate damage during supply failures or misalignment and to discover the most effective materials identified for enhancing the reliability and efficiency of

Pyrolysis of secondary raw material from used frying oils [PDF]

open access: yesR\'ecents Progr\`es en G\'enie des Proc\'ed\'es 94 (2007) sous pressse, 2007
A totally green chemistry alternative that would lead both to energy production from renewable feedstocks and to solutions of parts of ecological problems related to waste disposals would be very attractive. Pyrolysis of used frying oils seems to be one option for this attractive alternative as we propose to demonstrate in this study.

First data on the repellent activity of essential oils of Citrus limon towards medfly (Ceratitis capitata) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The biological activity of peel essential oils of two Sicilian cultivars of C. limon, ‘Interdonato’ and ‘Lunario’, was investigated by electrophysiological recordings (EAG) and field trials on Ceratitis capitata (Wiedemann) (Diptera Tephritidae). The EAG

A Different Perspective on the Solid Lubrication Performance of Black Phosphorous: Friend or Foe?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Researchers investigate black phosphorous (BP) as a standalone solid lubricant coating through ball‐on‐disc linear‐reciprocating sliding experiments in dry conditions. Testing on different metals shows BP doesn't universally reduce friction and wear. However, it achieves 33% friction reduction on rougher iron surfaces and 23% wear reduction on aluminum.

A Perspective on Powder Metallurgy and Additive Manufacturing of High‐Nitrogen Alloyed Stainless Steels

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This perspective article explores an innovative powder metallurgical approach to producing high‐nitrogen steels by utilizing a mixture of stainless steel and Si3N4. This mixture undergoes hot isostatic pressing followed by direct quenching. The article also examines adapting this method to laser powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB/M) to overcome nitrogen ...
