Genome-Wide Identification of SSR and SNP Markers Based on Whole-Genome Re-Sequencing of a Thailand Wild Sacred Lotus (Nelumbo nucifera). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Genomic resources such as single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs), insertions and deletions (InDels) and SSRs (simple sequence repeats) are essential for crop improvement and better utilization in genetic breeding.

Lectotypifications and taxonomic changes in the holoparasitic Orobanchaceae

open access: yesNordic Journal of Botany, Volume 2026, Issue 8, August 2026.
Based on further extensive studies of specimens in various herbaria, lectotypes are designated for many taxa of holoparasitic Orobanchaceae. In particular, 47 names in the genera Boschniakia (incl. Xylanche), Cistanche, Orobanche, Phelipanche and Phelypaea are lectotypified.

Assessment of genotypic variation among cultivated durum wheat based on EST-SSRS and genomic SSRS

open access: yes, 2022
Genotypic variation of 64 durum lines, landraces, and varieties wereinvestigated using three sources of microsatellites (SSRs). 245 primer pairswere used to detect polymorphism in this collection.

Development of novel EST-SSR markers in common carp by data mining from public EST sequences [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Expressed sequence tags (ESTs) are a source for microsatellite development. In the present study, EST-derived microsatelltes (EST-SSRs) were generated and characterized in the common carp (Cyprinus carpio) by data mining from updated public EST databases

Testing optimal defense theory: Root resistance selection in chicory (Cichorium intybus) reduces foliar defense and alters aphid performance and feeding behavior

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 8, Page 7951-7960, August 2026.
Root‐focused resistance in chicory reduces defenses in leaves, impairing root aphids but enhancing foliar aphid performance. Selecting root resistance can create unintended trade‐offs across plant organs. Abstract BACKGROUND Plants are constantly exposed to a wide range of herbivores at both aboveground (AG) and belowground (BG) levels, involving ...

Data from: Level of genetic differentiation affects relative performances of EST- and genomic SSRs

open access: yes, 2016
Microsatellites, also called simple sequence repeats (SSRs) are markers of choice to estimate relevant parameters for conservation genetics, such as migration rates, effective population size and kinship.

Dissection of Allelic Variation Underlying Floral and Fruit Traits in Flare Tree Peony (Paeonia rockii) Using Association Mapping

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2021
Allelic variation in floral quantitative traits, including the elements of flowers and fruits, is caused by extremely complex regulatory processes. In the genetic improvement of flare tree peony (Paeonia rockii), a unique ornamental and edible oil woody ...

Molecular investigation of the phylogenetic placement of Kartalinia and a revision of Bituminaria (Fabaceae: Psoraleeae)

open access: yesTAXON, Volume 75, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract The genus Kartalinia was described to accommodate a single, obscure species, Psoralea acaulis, based on its unique morphology and karyology. No concerted molecular phylogenetic studies were available for this species at the time, and therefore its phylogenetic position was uncertain.

The tree‐parasitic fungus Cryphonectria carpinicola discovered on European chestnut and European hornbeam in Azerbaijan

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, Volume 56, Issue 2, Page 370-375, August 2026.
Abstract The ascomycetous fungus Cryphonectria carpinicola is typically found in its asexual form on the European hornbeam, and its sexual state has only recently been discovered in deadwood of different Carpinus species in Japan. Recently, this fungus has been added to the EPPO Alert List due to its increasing incidence in the EPPO region and a ...
