In this paper, a new machine learning solution for function approximation is presented. It combines many simple and relatively inaccurate estimators to achieve high accuracy. It creates - in incremental manner - hierarchical, tree-like structure, adapting it to the specific problem being solved.

Minimax boundary estimation and estimation with boundary
We derive non-asymptotic minimax bounds for the Hausdorff estimation of $d$-dimensional submanifolds $M \subset \mathbb{R}^D$ with (possibly) non-empty boundary $\partial M$. The model reunites and extends the most prevalent $\mathcal{C}^2$-type set estimation models: manifolds without boundary, and full-dimensional domains.

Amplitude estimation without phase estimation [PDF]
AbstractThis paper focuses on the quantum amplitude estimation algorithm, which is a core subroutine in quantum computation for various applications. The conventional approach for amplitude estimation is to use the phase estimation algorithm, which consists of many controlled amplification operations followed by a quantum Fourier transform.
