Prognostic Factors of Renal Involvement in Systemic Sclerosis [PDF]
Background/Aims: Renal involvement is common in systemic sclerosis (SSc), including asymptomatic reduction of glomerular filtration rate (GFR), increased renal resistance indices, scleroderma renal crisis (SRC) and ANCA-associated vasculitis. The aim was

Estimating Glomerular Filtration Rate in Older People [PDF]
We aimed at reviewing age-related changes in kidney structure and function, methods for estimating kidney function, and impact of reduced kidney function on geriatric outcomes, as well as the reliability and applicability of equations for estimating glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) in older patients.

Shaping Ti3C2 MXene Nanospheres for Precision Near‐Infrared Photothermal Therapy
In this study, we report producing spherical MXenes via fs laser fragmentation of Ti3C2 flakes in liquid medium. The nanoparticles demonstrated pronounced light absorption and high photothermal conversion efficiencies of 68% and 63% under heating with NIR‐I and NIR‐II lasers, respectively.

Nuclear medicine: investigation of renal function in small animal medicine [PDF]
Kidney function investigations in veterinary medicine are traditionally based on blood analysis (blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and serum creatinine concentration) and / or urinalysis (urine specific gravity, protein-to-creatinine ratio or fractional ...

Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

The Impact of Reporting Estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate
The 'Kidney Disease Outcomes Quality Initiative' guidelines recommend laboratory reporting of a calculated estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). The United Kingdom and several states already mandate reporting eGFR for every laboratory serum creatinine (sCr) measurement. In our study, we evaluated the impact of reporting eGFR on the management of

RENAL‐CHIP converts 1 mL of peripheral blood into a biopsy‐equivalent readout of renal‐allograft fate. By magnetic capture and release of donor‐derived circulating podocytes through a herringbone microfluidic chip, 84% capture, 96% release and single‐cell RNA evidence of rejection‐specific immunity are achieved.

Acute kidney injury in the elderly: predisposition to chronic kidney disease and vice versa. [PDF]
There have been considerable advances in the past few years in our understanding of how chronic kidney disease (CKD) predisposes to acute kidney injury (AKI) and vice versa.

Renal Function - Estimation of Glomerular Filtration Rate [PDF]
