This perspective highlights emerging insights into how the circadian transcription factor CLOCK:BMAL1 regulates chromatin architecture, cooperates with other transcription factors, and coordinates enhancer dynamics. We propose an updated framework for how circadian transcription factors operate within dynamic and multifactorial chromatin landscapes ...

On a fundamental result in van der Corput's method of estimating exponential sums [PDF]
Let \(f\) be a real function with continuous derivatives up to the third order in \([a,b]\). \(f''(x)\) does not change its sign in the interval. Then van der Corput's transformation of the exponential sum \[ S= \sum_{a\leq m\leq b} e^{2\pi if(m)} \] reads as follows: \[ S= e^{\pi i/4} \sum_{f'(a)\leq \nu\leq f'(b)} \frac{1}{\sqrt{|f''(x_\nu)|}} e^{2 ...

Sub-Weyl subconvexity for Dirichlet L-functions to prime power moduli [PDF]
We prove a subconvexity bound for the central value L(1/2, chi) of a Dirichlet L-function of a character chi to a prime power modulus q=p^n of the form L(1/2, chi)\ll p^r * q^(theta+epsilon) with a fixed r and theta\approx 0.1645 < 1/6, breaking the long-

Real‐time assay of ribonucleotide reductase activity with a fluorescent RNA aptamer
Ribonucleotide reductases (RNR) synthesize DNA building blocks de novo, making them crucial in DNA replication and drug targeting. FLARE introduces the first single‐tube real‐time coupled RNR assay, which enables isothermal tracking of RNR activity at nanomolar enzyme levels and allows the reconstruction of allosteric regulatory patterns and rapid ...

Mean values of Dirichlet polynomials and applications to linear equations with prime variables
We prove a new mean-value theorem for Dirichlet polynomials with coefficients given by the von Mangoldt function. We then use our theorem to derive new estimates for certain exponential sums over primes.

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Moments and oscillations of exponential sums related to cusp forms
We consider large values of long linear exponential sums involving Fourier coefficients of holomorphic cusp forms. The sums we consider involve rational linear twists $e(nh/k)$ with sufficiently small denominators.

This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

On cubic polynomials I. Hua's estimate of exponential sums
Hua andChen gave estimates of sums\(\sum\limits_{x = 1}^q {e(\mathfrak{F}(x))} \) wheree(z)=e2πiz and\(\mathfrak{F}\) is a polynomial of the typef(x)/q wheref(x)=akxk+...+a1x with integer coefficients having gcd (q, ak,...,a1)=1 But no good estimates hold for these sums whenq is small in comparison tok.
