Estimating Local Function Complexity via Mixture of Gaussian Processes

open access: yes, 2019
Real world data often exhibit inhomogeneity, e.g., the noise level, the sampling distribution or the complexity of the target function may change over the input space. In this paper, we try to isolate local function complexity in a practical, robust way.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Estimating Money Demand Function in Cambodia: ARDL Approach [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper empirically estimates the money demand function in Cambodia. We adopt the money demand model that includes exchange rate. For the analysis, Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach to cointegration is employed.

Crucial parameters for precise copy number variation detection in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded solid cancer samples

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that copy number variations (CNVs) can be reliably detected in formalin‐fixed paraffin‐embedded (FFPE) solid cancer samples using ultra‐low‐pass whole‐genome sequencing, provided that key (pre)‐analytical parameters are optimized.

Mass Functions of Supermassive Black Holes across Cosmic Time

open access: yesAdvances in Astronomy, 2012
The black hole mass function of supermassive black holes describes the evolution of the distribution of black hole mass. It is one of the primary empirical tools available for mapping the growth of supermassive black holes and for constraining ...

Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of single circulating tumor cells in the follow‐up of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single circulating tumor cells (sCTCs) from high‐grade serous ovarian cancer patients were enriched, imaged, and genomically profiled using WGA and NGS at different time points during treatment. sCTCs revealed enrichment of alterations in Chromosomes 2, 7, and 12 as well as persistent or emerging oncogenic CNAs, supporting sCTC identity.

Estimating the function of oscillatory components in SSA-based forecasting model

open access: yesIJAIN (International Journal of Advances in Intelligent Informatics), 2019
The study of SSA-based forecasting model is always interesting due to its capability in modeling trend and multiple seasonal time series. The aim of this study is to propose an iterative ordinary least square (OLS) for estimating the oscillatory with ...
