Two-stage Benchmarking as Applied to Small Area Estimation

open access: yes, 2013
There has been recent growth in small area estimation due to the need for more precise estimation of small geographic areas, which has led to groups such as the U.S.

Gut microbiota diversity is prognostic in metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this exploratory study, we investigated the relationship between the gut microbiota and outcome in patients with metastatic hormone receptor‐positive breast cancer, treated in a randomized clinical trial with chemotherapy alone or chemotherapy in combination with immune checkpoint blockade.

Adaptive strategies in unrelated question randomized response techniques for sensitive data collection

open access: yesResearch in Statistics
When surveys involve sensitive issues-such as gambling habits, drug addiction, alcoholism, tax evasion, induced abortions, drunk driving, criminal history, or homosexuality non-response and response biases frequently occur, as respondents may be ...

On the error in crop acreage estimation using satellite (LANDSAT) data [PDF]

open access: yes
The problem of crop acreage estimation using satellite data is discussed. Bias and variance of a crop proportion estimate in an area segment obtained from the classification of its multispectral sensor data are derived as functions of the means ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Analytic Formulae for Estimating Motor Proportion of Load Model Under Small Disturbance

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
In the composite load model (CLM), which is commonly used in China, an equivalent motor and equivalent static load are used to represent all electrical equipment and networks connected to a load bus.

Re-sampling strategy to improve the estimation of number of null hypotheses in FDR control under strong correlation structures

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2007
Background When conducting multiple hypothesis tests, it is important to control the number of false positives, or the False Discovery Rate (FDR). However, there is a tradeoff between controlling FDR and maximizing power.

In vitro properties of patient serum predict clinical outcome after high dose rate brachytherapy of hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Confidence Interval Estimation of Proportion Near Zero or One: A Modeling Secondary Study

open access: yesمجله اپیدمیولوژی ایران, 2017
Background and Objectives: When computing a confidence interval for a binomial proportion p, one must choose an exact interval that has a coverage probability of at least 1-α for all values of p.
