The Arabidopsis mutants hls1 hlh1 and amp1 lamp1 exhibit pleiotropic developmental phenotypes. Although the functions of the causative genes remain unclear, they act in the same genetic pathway and are thought to generate non‐cell‐autonomous signals.

A TIME-OPTIMAL ALGORITHM FOR THE ESTIMATION OF CONTACT DISTRIBUTION FUNCTIONS OF RANDOM SETS
This paper presents a linear-time and therefore time-optimal algorithm for the estimation of distance distribution functions and contact distribution functions of random sets.

A simple variance estimator for unequal probability sampling without replacement
Survey sampling textbooks often refer to the Sen-Yates-Grundy variance estimator for use with without replacement unequal probability designs. This estimator is rarely implemented, because of the complexity of determining joint inclusion probabilities ...

Re-calibration of sample means [PDF]
We consider the problem of calibration and the GREG method as suggested and studied in Deville and Sarndal (1992). We show that a GREG type estimator is typically not minimal variance unbiased estimator even asymptotically. We suggest a similar estimator

Spinal muscular atrophy (SMA) is a genetic disease affecting motor neurons. Individuals with SMA experience mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of an antioxidant and neuroprotective substance, ergothioneine (ERGO), on an SMNΔ7 mouse model of SMA.

Microbial exopolysaccharide production by polyextremophiles in the adaptation to multiple extremes
Polyextremophiles are microorganisms that endure multiple extreme conditions by various adaptation strategies that also include the production of exopolysaccharides (EPSs). This review provides an integrated perspective on EPS biosynthesis, function, and regulation in these organisms, emphasizing their critical role in survival and highlighting their ...

Experimental investigation of active yaw moment control system using a momentum wheel
Active yaw moment control is one of the most effective methods to improve the lateral stability and safety of vehicle. In this method, the overall yaw moment of the vehicle is modified by applying the corrective yaw moment generated by the systems that ...

On Improved Loss Estimation for Shrinkage Estimators
Let $X$ be a random vector with distribution $P_ $ where $ $ is an unknown parameter. When estimating $ $ by some estimator $ (X)$ under a loss function $L( , )$, classical decision theory advocates that such a decision rule should be used if it has suitable properties with respect to the frequentist risk $R( , )$.

Phytohormone brassinosteroid‐induced gene regulation by the transcription factor BIL1/BZR1 involves redox‐dependent DNA‐binding alternation and interaction with the transcription factor PIF4. The reduced BIL1/BZR1 dimer binds preferred cis‐elements, while oxidation alters its oligomerization state and disrupts DNA‐binding ability.
