Sex Matters: Hormonal and Chromosomal Determinants of Autoimmunity and Anti‐Cancer Immunity Across the Lifespan

open access: yesImmunological Reviews, Volume 338, Issue 1, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Sex plays a key role in shaping both anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. Biological factors underlying sexual dimorphism have now been identified in multiple aspects of anti‐cancer immunity and autoimmunity. Validation of grizzly bear hair hormone profiles as a tool to monitor population demographics

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, Volume 90, Issue 2, February 2026.
We measured 16 steroid and thyroid hormone concentrations in grizzly bear hair to predict sex, age class, and reproductive status. The Microbiome Modulates Corneal Wound Healing via the Induction of Cholesterol Sulfotransferase Pathway

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 2, 31 January 2026.
Antibiotic‐mediated disruption of commensal microbiota increases corneal cholesterol sulfate (CS) production through upregulation of SULT2B1, resulting in impaired corneal epithelial wound healing. Elevated CS suppresses neutrophil recruitment and epithelial cell migration via inhibition of the DOCK2–Rac pathway.
