Specific and Label‐Free bioFET Sensing of the Interaction Between the Electrically Neutral Small Estriol Molecule and Its Antibody in a Microliter Drop of Diluted Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials
The sensing of small molecules is important to a variety of fields and particularly to clinical diagnostics. Estriol is an important small chemical molecule, as it is one of three markers measured during mid‐gestation for the Down syndrome. Point‐of‐care

Pharmacogenetic CYP2B6 variants affect steroid hormone metabolism in human breast cancer cells

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Common genetic CYP2B6 variants correlate with adverse breast cancer outcome. The oestrogen metabolites estriol and 16‐epiestriol, which are formed downstream of CYP2B6‐catalysed 16α/β‐hydroxytestosterone, may be linked to elevated breast cancer risk and might increase due to the demonstrated CYP2B6 variants‐related metabolic shifts.

xpression of estrogen and progesterone receptor genes in endometrium, myometrium and vagina of postmenopausal women treated with estriol

open access: yesSão Paulo Medical Journal
CONTEXT AND OBJECTIVE: Estriol is an estrogen with considerably weaker stimulatory effects on endometrial proliferation than estradiol. A study was conducted to determine the level of estrogen receptors (ERs) and progesterone receptors (PRs) in women who

A new method for the separation of androgens from estrogens and for the partition of estriol from the estrone-estradiol fraction: with special reference to the identification and quantitative microdetermination of estrogens by ultraviolet absorption spectrophotometry [PDF]

open access: yes, 1948
It is recognized generally that a qualitative and quantitative knowledge of the excretion pattern of the urinary estrogens is one index to an understanding of the functional activity of the ovary and adrenal cortex.

Quantification of steroid hormones in free‐ranging Apennine wolf Canis lupus italicus hair samples collected post‐mortem

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
After decades of dramatic reductions in their populations, Italian wolves have begun recolonizing parts of their historic range. This growth in populations can lead to potential conflicts with human activities, which remain the main cause of wolf mortality.
