This study presents a novel implantable drug delivery systemwith a biodegradable poly(caprolactone) membrane and compressed drug core forsustained release. These implantable devices deliver risperidone in vitro for 170 days and in vivo for 49 days in rats, showing promise for chronic conditions like schizophrenia.

Pyrolytic formation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons from steroid hormones [PDF]
Four steroid hormones, namely androsterone, cholesterol, estrone and estradiol, have been pyrolysed at 300, 400 and 500 °C and the pyrolysates from these have been analysed by GC-MS.

This work demonstrates an unconventional mechanism in Lewis basic selenium‐catalyzed electrophilic halogenation, where in situ oxidation of selenourea by the halogen source generates hypervalent Se‐imidazolium species. These intermediates function as hydrogen‐bond catalysts to activate N‐haloamide reagents, enabling efficient and mild halogenation of ...

Enantioselective Synthesis of (+)-Estrone Exploiting a Hydrogen Bond-Promoted Diels−Alder Reaction
Starting from Dane’s diene and methylcyclopentenedione, (+)-estrone is synthesized along the Quinkert−Dane route in 24% total yield. The key step is an enantioselective Diels−Alder reaction promoted by an amidinium catalyst as efficiently as by a ...

This study firstly reveals astaxanthin roles in alleviating lead toxicity in mouse via multiple approaches. Astaxanthin significantly mitigates metabolic and inflammatory imbalances through gut‐liver axis modulation. Astaxanthin activates Nrf2/ARE and PPAR pathways, providing multidimensional antioxidative and metabolic protection. Astaxanthin improves

ABSTRACT The development and maintenance of sexually dimorphic behavior often depends on gonadal steroids. Interspecific variation in the magnitude of behavioral sex differences may be mediated by differences in steroid action on neural circuits controlling behavior.

Synthesis of 2-Acylphenol and Flavene Derivatives from the Ruthenium-Catalyzed Oxidative C-H Acylation of Phenols with Aldehydes [PDF]
The cationic ruthenium hydride complex [(C6H6)(PCy3)(CO)RuH]+BF4− has been found to be an effective catalyst for the oxidative C–H coupling reaction of phenols with aldehydes to give 2-acylphenol compounds.

Micropollutants and Their Interactions With Relevant Environmental Viruses
Environmental micropollutants increase virus stability. ABSTRACT Emerging pollutants encompass a diverse array of chemicals classified as micropollutants, including pharmaceuticals and microplastics (MPs). Viruses are known to adsorb onto MPs, including binding to bacterial biofilms that form the plastisphere.
