Estrone and Estrone Sulfate Concentrations in Milk and Milk Fractions
Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, 2012Dairy products naturally contain estrogens, and some consumer groups contend these estrogens cause adverse health effects. The objectives of this research were to characterize estrone (E(1)) and estrone sulfate (E(1)S) concentrations in milk from a large number of individual cows, in skim and fat fractions of milk, and in retail milk to provide food ...

Estrone sulfonates as inhibitors of estrone sulfatase
Steroids, 1997In our continuing quest to design efficient inhibitors of estrone sulfatase activity and to assess the recognition of estrone sulfate surrogates by estrone sulfatase, we synthesized and evaluated several sulfonate derivatives of 5,6,7,8-tetrahydronaphth-2-ol and estrone.

Estrone sulfate analogs as estrone sulfatase inhibitors
Steroids, 1995The high serum concentration of estrone sulfate and the presence of estrone sulfatase in breast tumors constitute an important mechanism of local synthesis of estrogens in the tissue. Thus, inhibitors of estrone sulfatase may be effective in the treatment of estrogen-dependent breast cancer.

Comparative Fate of Estrone and Estrone Sulfate in Man
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1973Estrone-14C and estrone sulfate-3H were simultaneously injected into a 37-yr-old woman and disposition of the two isotopes was followed. The products of estrone sulfate were excreted in urine more rapidly and to a greater extent than those of the coadministered estrone.

Estrogen levels in breast tumors of post-menopausal women are at least 10 times higher than estrogen levels in plasma. The high level of estrogen in these tumors is postulated to be due to in situ formation of estrogen, possibly through conversion of estrone sulfate to estrone by the enzyme estrone sulfatase.

Estrone Sulfate, Estrone, Estradiol and Estriol Plasma Levels in Human Pregnancy
The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, 1972ABSTRACT Estrone sulfate, estrone, estradiol and estriol were measured through the course of pregnancy in 85 women. Of the unconjugated estrogens, estradiol had the highest plasma concentration, being approximately twice that of estrone and four times that of estriol. Estrone sulfate level was twice that of estradiol.

An expeditious synthesis of estrone
Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1975Abstract The Tris annelating agent, 6-(2-methyl-6-pyridyl-hex-l-ene-3-one), has been synthesized in four steps from the readily available 2,6-lutidine. To this 12-carbon ensemble is added, in a Michael fashion, 2-methycyclopentane-1,3-dione. The prochiral pyridyltrione, so produced, can be cyclized to afford 4-(2-α-picolylethyl)-hydrind-4-ene-3,7 ...

Estrone Sulfatase and Its Inhibitors
Anti-Cancer Agents in Medicinal Chemistry, 2009A high proportion (∼40%) of breast cancers are hormone-dependent and it is the female hormone estradiol (E2) that is believed to play a key role in the initiation, promotion and progression of this disease. In the fight against this disease, compounds which are potent inhibitors of the cytochrome P-450 enzyme aromatase (AR) (which catalyses the ...
