The Impact of Melatonin on Cellular Dynamics and Gene Expression of Bovine Embryos Cultured Under Low and High Oxygen Tension

open access: yesMolecular Reproduction and Development, Volume 93, Issue 4, April 2026.
ABSTRACT This study investigated the effects of melatonin supplementation in the culture medium on the development, cellular dynamics and gene expression of bovine embryos produced in vitro under low (5%) or high (20%) oxygen tension. Zygotes were cultured without melatonin or with (10−9 M), and cleavage, blastocyst rates, blastomere number, apoptosis,

Bioclimatic, demographic and anthropogenic correlates of grizzly bear activity patterns in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem

open access: yesOikos, Volume 2026, Issue 4, April 2026.
Plasticity of diel activity rhythms may be a key element for adaptations of wildlife populations to changing environmental conditions. In the last decades, grizzly bears Ursus arctos in the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem (GYE) have experienced notable environmental fluctuations, including changes in availability of food sources and severe droughts ...

Senescence‐Driven Remodeling Defines an Aggressive and Immunomodulatory Subtype of Endometriosis

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 25, Issue 4, April 2026.
Senescence in ectopic endometrial cells promotes SASP‐mediated M2 macrophage polarization and enhanced invasiveness of endometriotic lesions. PAK4 drives this process via PI3K/AKT signaling, while stigmasterol suppresses PAK4 and alleviates senescence‐associated immune remodeling. ABSTRACT Endometriosis is a benign yet invasive disease characterized by

Context‐Dependent Extinction and Return of Pavlovian Alcohol‐Seeking Behavior in Male and Female Rats

open access: yesAlcohol, Clinical and Experimental Research, Volume 50, Issue 4, April 2026.
Alcohol‐associated cues renewed conditioned alcohol seeking when rats returned to the original conditioning context after extinction. Male and female rats showed comparable cue‐elicited approach and sipper contact, suggesting shared contextual memory retrieval mechanisms underlying relapse‐like behavior.

Sex‐specific impact of repeated adolescent vapour exposure to JWH‐018 on dopamine response, behaviour and pharmacokinetics across adolescence and adulthood

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 7, Page 1517-1538, April 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose Alarming trends show that vaping e‐cigarettes containing synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists, such as JWH‐018, is increasing among youth. However, the effects of these trends are unclear in both sexes. We therefore characterized the neuropharmacological effects of adolescent JWH‐018 inhalation in male and female rats.
