Effects of large mammal exclusion on seedling communities depend on plant species traits and landscape protection in human‐modified Costa Rican forests

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 60, Issue 12, Page 2561-2572, December 2023., 2023
Insight into the interactions between LTH‐mammals and seedling communities in forest regeneration can be instrumental in planning effective restoration efforts. We highlight the importance of landscape protection in seedling survival and the role of LTH‐mammals in promoting seedling diversity in mature forests but also in secondary successional forests.

Evaluation of the Danish version of the prenatal parental reflective functioning questionnaire in early pregnancy as a screening tool

open access: yesInfant Mental Health Journal: Infancy and Early Childhood, Volume 44, Issue 3, Page 387-405, May 2023., 2023
Abstract Parental reflective functioning (PRF) is the capacity to focus on feelings and experiences in oneself as a parent and in the child. Impacts of the COVID‐19 outbreak on older‐age cohorts in European Labor Markets: A machine learning exploration of vulnerable groups

open access: yesRegional Science Policy &Practice, Volume 15, Issue 3, Page 559-584, April 2023., 2023
Abstract We identify vulnerable groups through the examination of their employment status in the face of the initial coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) shock through the application of tree‐based ensemble machine learning algorithms on a sample of individuals over 50 years old. The present study elaborates on the findings through various interpretable

The journey back to normality: Support systems and posttrauma needs following exposure to single‐incident trauma among children and adolescents

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 36, Issue 1, Page 218-229, February 2023., 2023
Abstract Social support has been linked to posttrauma adjustment in children and adolescents, but the components of good support remain poorly defined. We conducted qualitative interviews with 30 youths aged 7–16 years after being admitted to a hospital following a single‐incident trauma, predominantly injury or illness. The aim was to identify youths’

Assessing place‐based identities in the early Middle Ages: a proposal for post‐Roman Iberia

open access: yesEarly Medieval Europe, Volume 31, Issue 1, Page 23-50, February 2023., 2023
Sociological models of place‐based identity can be used to better understand the social dynamics of local communities and how they interact with their surroundings. This paper explores how these theoretical models of belonging to a place, in tandem with communal cognitive maps, can be applied to post‐Roman contexts, taking the Iberian Peninsula in the ...

A cascade model of complex posttraumatic stress disorder centered on childhood trauma and maltreatment, attachment, and socio‐interpersonal factors

open access: yesJournal of Traumatic Stress, Volume 35, Issue 2, Page 446-460, April 2022., 2022
Abstract The present study proposes and tests a cascade model of complex posttraumatic stress disorder (CPTSD) focusing on childhood trauma and maltreatment, attachment, and socio‐interpersonal factors. The observed pattern and hidden process of female reproductive trajectories across the life span in a non‐human primate

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, Volume 90, Issue 12, Page 2901-2914, December 2021., 2021
With a diminishing number of individuals with age, studying the pattern of reproductive ageing has been difficult especially in long‐lived species. The authors characterize the entire reproductive trajectory from 673 free‐ranging female rhesus macaques of Cayo Santiago, and provide clear evidence for both reproductive senescence and age‐independent ...

Are old regions less attractive? Interregional labour migration in a context of population ageing

open access: yesPapers in Regional Science, Volume 100, Issue 6, Page 1429-1447, December 2021., 2021
Abstract Regional demographic change is often conceptualized as a circular process, where out‐migration continuously worsens conditions of population ageing and shrinkage. Thus, if migration acts as a consequence as well as cause of ageing, migration patterns should be influenced by the age structure of origin and destination regions.
