Influence of electrodeposition parameters on the structure and morphology of ZnO nanowire arrays and networks synthesized in etched ion-track membranes

Semiconductor Science and Technology, 2015
This work presents the synthesis and characterization of two different zinc oxide (ZnO) nanowire assemblies: arrays of parallel-oriented cylindrical wires and three-dimensional (3D) networks of highly interconnected wires. Both are synthesized by electrochemical deposition in the pores of etched ion-track polycarbonate membranes.

Hierarchically porous carbon membranes containing designed nanochannel architectures obtained by pyrolysis of ion-track etched polyimide

Materials Chemistry and Physics, 2014
Abstract Well-defined, porous carbon monoliths are highly promising materials for electrochemical applications, separation, purification and catalysis. In this work, we present an approach allowing to transfer the remarkable degree of synthetic control given by the ion-track etching technology to the fabrication of carbon membranes with porosity ...

Coupled chemical reactions in dynamic nanometric confinement: Ag2O membrane formation during ion track etching

Radiation Effects and Defects in Solids, 2013
In this study, continuous swift heavy ion tracks in thin polymer foils were etched from both sides to create two conical nanopores opposing each other. Shortly before both cones merged, one of the nanopores was filled with a silver salt solution, whereas etching of the other cone continued.

Enhancement of etch rate for preparation of nano-sized ion-track membranes of poly(vinylidene fluoride): Effect of pretreatment and high-LET beam irradiation

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 2009
Abstract We investigated how pretreatment and high-LET beam irradiation affected the ion-track dissolution rate in poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) films by SEM observations and conductometric analysis in order to develop the preparation methodology of nano-sized ion-track membranes.

Selective capillary diffusion of equimolar H2/D2 gas mixtures through etched ion track membranes prepared from polyethylene terephthalate and polyimide

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1996
Abstract The selective capillary diffusion of equimolar H2/D2 gas mixtures through ion track membranes prepared from polyethylene terephthalate and polyimide was investigated at a temperature of 293 K, a primary pressure of 0.15 MPa and a secondary pressure of 10−4 MPa.

From Simulation to Metal Deposition: Predicting and Verifying Pore Clustering in Ion-Track Etched Membranes

ECS Meeting Abstracts
Ion-track etched polycarbonate membranes are widely used in filtration, sensing, and templated nanostructure fabrication due to their low cost and precise manufacturing control. These membranes are fabricated by exposing polycarbonate films to a heavy-ion beam, which locally modifies the polymer’s etching characteristics along the ion tracks ...

TiO₂, SiO₂, and Al₂O₃ coated nanopores and nanotubes produced by ALD in etched ion-track membranes for transport measurements [PDF]

open access: possible
Low-temperature atomic layer deposition (ALD) of TiO₂, SiO₂, and Al₂O₃ was applied to modify the surface and to tailor the diameter of nanochannels in etched ion-track polycarbonate membranes. The homogeneity, conformity, and composition of the coating inside the nanochannels are investigated for different channel diameters (18–55 nm) and film ...
