Reading and (not) seeing?

open access: yesSillages Critiques, 2016
Breyten Breytenbach, who is a poet, novelist, essay-writer and painter, very rarely evokes his own pictorial oeuvre in his texts. An exception is a short story entitled “Paris.” This article will study the manner in which the narrative is suspended due ...

Irradiation‐Induced Spin Bath Evolution and as‐Grown Hydrogen Defects in CVD Diamond Revealed by NV‐Based DEER Spectroscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Here, we provide the reader with the current state of the art in the fabrication of high‐T2‐coherence diamond, optimized through the use of double electron–electron resonance (DEER) spectroscopy. We reveal the main as well as yet unidentified spin defects, the reduction of which is essential for reducing the spin bath and fabricating materials for ...

Fully Additive Vertical Organic Electrochemical Transistors on Renewable and Compostable Substrates Enable Ultrasensitive Bioelectronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fully additive vertical organic electrochemical transistors (vOECTs) with channel‐length of 226 nm on a 50 µm compostable substrate achieve >106 current modulation and ∼36 mS transconductance. Ion‐selective integration enables 1.1 mA dec−1 sensitivity and 36 µm detection limit, highlighting a scalable platform for sustainable electronics and ...

Enhancing the Fluorescence and Antimicrobial Performance of Carbon Dots via Hypochlorite Treatment

open access: yesNanomaterials
This paper presents a simple, post-synthesis treatment of carbon dots (C-dots) that relies on the oxidizing activity of sodium hypochlorite to induce surface oxidation, etching and pronounced structural rearrangements. The thus treated C-dots (ox-C-dots)

Etching-Assisted Ablation of the UV-Transparent Fluoropolymer CYTOP Using Various Laser Pulse Widths and Subsequent Microfluidic Applications

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
This work demonstrated the surface microfabrication of the UV-transparent fluoropolymer CYTOP (perfluoro 1-butenyl vinyl ether), by etching-assisted ablation using lasers with different pulse widths.

Omnipolar Magnetic Field Detection by Superlattice‐Based Hall Sensor

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic‐field‐induced electronic switching is demonstrated in unit‐cell‐engineered La0.7Sr0.3MnO3–BiFeO3 superlattices. Distinct substrate terminations modify magnetic and transport properties. Hall resistance measurements show omnipolar, hysteretic anomalous Hall switching above the Curie temperature, arising from Fe─Mn interfacial exchange, enabling

Three‐Dimensional Anomalous Hall Sensing Enabled By Spin–Orbit Torque Driven Domain Reconfiguration In Chiral Multilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A three‐dimensional magnetic field sensor is realized in chiral W/CoFeB/MgO multilayers, where spin–orbit torques reversibly reconfigure homochiral stripe domains. The symmetry of the torque enables offset‐free in‐plane sensing, while the reproducible domain reconfiguration extends the linear out‐of‐plane range. An anomalous Hall readout delivers large‐
