Preparation, characterization, and properties of poly(thioether ether imide)s from isomeric bis(chlorophthalimide)s and bis(4-mercaptophenyl) ether

open access: yes, 2015
A series of isomeric poly(thioether ether imide)s (PTEIs) containing both thioether and ether linkages were prepared by aromatic nucleophilic substitution reaction of isomeric bis(chlorophthalimide)s (BCPIs) with bis(4-mercaptophenyl) ether (BMPE).

Machine Learning Accelerated Computational Design of Bio‐Inspired Catalysts in the Nitrogen Reduction Reaction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We introduce a computational workflow that combines quantum chemical calculations and machine learning techniques to predict the catalytic performance of a wide range of catalysts in the nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR). The analysis of the trained models provides insights into the complex structure–activity relationship in experimental catalytic ...

A Unified Polymer Hydrogel Electrolyte Integrating Robust Adhesion, Self‐Healing, and Oxygen Permeability in Flexible Neutral Zn‐Air Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Flexible neutral Zn‐air batteries achieving a remarkable 3000‐cycle lifespan and withstanding 1000 bending cycles are reported. This performance is realized by employing a 3D physically cross‐linked neutral hydrogel electrolyte that integrates high adhesion, self‐healing, O2 permeability, and CO2 tolerance to resolve critical stability challenges ...

Strengthened Interfacial Coupling Between Self‐Assembled Monolayers and Bulk Heterojunctions Enables Thermally Stable Organic Solar Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Molecularly engineered self‐assembled monolayers (SAMs) featuring extended conjugated terminals facilitate superior interfacial coupling with the organic solar cell active layer. By physically anchoring the local morphology, this design suppresses thermal degradation, allowing devices to operate at 85°C for 150 h before degrading to 90% of their ...

Dynamical analysis of methanol-dimethyl ether autoignition at engine-relevant conditions

open access: yes, 2017
We have computationally investigated the auto-ignition of a methanol-air mixture with the addition of dimethyl ether at a high pressure and low-temperature environment aiming at its utilization to HCCI engines.

Liposomes encapsulating polymeric chitosan based vesicles - a vesicle in vesicle system for drug delivery

open access: yes, 2000
Drug delivery systems comprising vesicles prepared from one amphiphile encapsulating vesicles prepared from a second amphiphile have not been prepared previously due to a tendency of the bilayer components of the different vesicles to mix during ...

Toward a Unified Mechanistic Understanding of Polymer Electrolytes for Advanced Solid‐State Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Polymer electrolytes (PEs) are often indiscriminately grouped as “solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs)”, despite fundamental differences in their ion‐transport mechanisms. This Perspective establishes a mechanism‐based framework that distinguishes gel, quasi‐solid, and all‐solid polymer electrolytes based on their dominant ion‐transport pathways.

A Dual‐Bioresponsive and Programmable Microneedle Matrix as a Bioinspired Coupler for Orchestrating Diabetic Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This project developed a smart bandage‐like patch (a microneedle array) for repairing diabetic bone damage. It intelligently senses signals from infection and inflammation, then releases its medicines in a specific, timed sequence: first an antibacterial agent, then an anti‐inflammatory agent, and finally growth factors.
