Identification and quantitation of lipid-bound short-chain diols
Procedures are described for the hydrolysis of neutral lipid fractions containing long-chain esters and alk-1-enyl ethers of short-chain diols, and for the identification and quantitation of the constituent diols as long-chain cyclic acetals using gas ...

Nickel-Catalyzed Carbonylative Synthesis of Functionalized Alkyl Iodides
Summary: Functionalized alkyl iodides are important compounds in organic chemistry and biology. In this communication, we developed an interesting nickel-catalyzed carbonylative synthesis of functionalized alkyl iodides from aryl iodides and ethers. With

Caveat in alkylative fragmentation of aldehyde tosylhydrazones of cyclic ethers
Tosylhtdrazones of aldehydes at the α-position of cyclic ethers when exposed to carbon nucleophiles produce either ring opened alkylated olefinic alcohols and/or cyclic alkylated vinyl ethers, the ratio of which is dependent on nature of hydrazone and ...

Composite Ti–6Al–4V–epoxy lattice structures are additively manufactured and epoxy infiltrated for cyclic loading. At low lattice volume fractions, hybridization produces synergistic gains in stiffness and energy dissipation. At higher volume fractions, synergy diminishes, although composites still exceed metallic lattices in specific energy ...

Piers' borane-mediated hydrosilylation of epoxides and cyclic ethers
We report the first diarylborane-catalysed hydrosilylation of epoxides and cyclic ethers. Mechanistic studies on the in situ generated Piers' borane (C6F5)2BH with hydrosilanes in the presence of an epoxide revealed that an alkyloxy(diaryl)borane (C6F5 ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries

REACTIONS OF CYCLIC OXIDES UNDER BIFUNCTIONAL HETEROGENEOUS ACID-BASE CATALYSIS
The reactions of cyclic epoxides form the basis for many industrial chemical technology processes. Unlike simple ethers, oxiranes tend to undergo nucleophilic cleavage reactions. The chemical properties of cyclic alkanes are primarily determined by their

Cyclic and Macrocyclic Organic Compounds - a Personal Review in Honor of Professor Leopold Ružička [PDF]
Ružička opened the field of cyclic molecules such as cyclic terpenes and cyclic ketones with up to 17 ring atoms. This work until now was extended in many directions such as cyclic paraffins, crown ethers and cryptands and cyclic ester amides.
