The isolation of differentially expressed cDNA clones from the filarial nematode Brugia pahangi [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
A cDNA library constructed from 3 day post-infective L3 of the filarial nematode Brugia pahangi was screened by differential hybridization with cDNA probes prepared from different life-cycle stages.

An Elegant Method of One‐Pot Ligation‐Desulfurization for High‐Yielding Chemical Protein Synthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A one‐pot native chemical ligation and desulfurization method has been developed for efficient chemical protein synthesis. This unique approach uses bromoacetamide and N‐acetyl cysteine to selectively quench arylthiol post native chemical ligation.

Application of the comet assay in erythrocytes of Oreochromis niloticus (Pisces): a methodological comparison

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2009
The present study applied the comet assay to erythrocytes of Oreochromis niloticus with the aim of improving protocols to detect DNA damage in these cells, by using two distinct pHs (pH = 12.1 and pH > 13) and evaluating whether there is a correspondence

MITOCHONDRIAL DNA POLYMORPHISMS AND FERTILITY IN BEEF CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Two regions of mitochondrial DNA, D-loop and ND-5 were characterized using polymerase chain reaction – restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) involving 422 beef cattle of Hereford and composite breeds from Wokalup’s ...

Lactate‐Modulating Nanoreactors Facilitate Self‐Amplifying Pyroptosis and the cGAS‐STING Cascade for Potentiated Catalytic‐Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An intelligent lactate‐depleting LOCoF2 (CoF2@LOx) nanoreactor system is developed to effectively induce self‐reinforced pyroptosis and activate the cGAS‐STING signaling pathway, thereby inducing a strong immune response and enhancing the therapeutic effectiveness of catalytic immunotherapy.

Staining of RNA and DNA on electrophoretic gels and in cytology with juice of Vaccinium myrtillus berries

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Background: My early results of cytological chromosome staining with berry juice of blueberry or bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) was re-evaluated with staining of electrophoretic agarose and polyacrylamide gels, fractionating DNA, RNA, and proteins ...

Intercalation of ethidium bromide into a triple-stranded oligonucleotide

open access: yesNucleic Acids Research, 1991
We have examined the ability of a cationic planar chromophore, ethidium bromide, to intercalate into a short, defined triple helix. Using UV absorption, fluorescence spectroscopy and a gel retardation assay we demonstrate that ethidium bromide is able to bind to a triple helix with a lower affinity than to the corresponding duplex. Energy transfer from

Co‐Opting MBNL‐Dependent Alternative Splicing Cassette Exons to Control Gene Therapy in Myotonic Dystrophy

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Myotonic dystrophy type 1 (DM1) is a highly variable, multisystemic genetic disorder caused by a CTG repeat expansion in the 3′ untranslated region of DMPK. Toxicity is exerted by repeat‐containing DMPK transcripts that sequester muscleblind‐like (MBNL) proteins and lead to deleterious yet predictable changes in alternative splicing.
