Investigation of Gel Electrophoresis Stains

open access: yesAl-SalamJournal for Medical Science
Gel electrophoresis is essential in molecular biology and biochemistry for separating and analyzing DNA, RNA, and proteins. UV sensitivity and compatibility have led to the use of ethidium bromide stains.

Action of Betulinic Acid in the Inhibition of Efflux Pump NorA in Staphylococcus aureus Strains: In Vitro and In Silico Approaches

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Antibiotic resistance poses a serious challenge to public health, particularly in the case of Staphylococcus aureus, a Gram‐positive bacterium that employs multiple resistance mechanisms, including efflux pumps such as NorA, which extrude antimicrobial compounds from the cell and reduce antibiotic efficacy. Therefore, the search for substances

Specific berenil–DNA interactions: an approach for separation of plasmid isoforms by pseudo–affinity chromatography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Small molecules, like some antibiotics and anticancer agents that bind DNA with high specificity can represent a relevant alternative as ligands in affinity processes for plasmid DNA (pDNA) purification.

Independence from kinetoplast DNA maintenance and expression is associated with multi-drug resistance in Trypanosoma brucei in vitro [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It is well known that several antitrypanosomatid drugs accumulate in the parasite's mitochondrion, where they often bind to the organellar DNA, the kinetoplast.

Highly Potent Fluorogenic Ligands for Triplex DNA: 5‐Substituted 2‐(Naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐Chromen‐4‐Ones

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
5‐Substituted 2‐(naphthalen‐2‐yl)‐4H‐chromen‐4‐ones are reported as a novel class of highly potent and selective triplex DNA ligands. These ligands induce triplex formation at submicromolar concentrations and inhibit enzymatic activity via ligand‐mediated triplex formation.
