Staining of RNA and DNA on electrophoretic gels and in cytology with juice of Vaccinium myrtillus berries

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
Background: My early results of cytological chromosome staining with berry juice of blueberry or bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus) was re-evaluated with staining of electrophoretic agarose and polyacrylamide gels, fractionating DNA, RNA, and proteins ...

MITOCHONDRIAL DNA POLYMORPHISMS AND FERTILITY IN BEEF CATTLE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Two regions of mitochondrial DNA, D-loop and ND-5 were characterized using polymerase chain reaction – restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) involving 422 beef cattle of Hereford and composite breeds from Wokalup’s ...

First direct evidence of spawning by Japanese sardine Sardinops melanosticta (Temminck and Schlegel) in the eastern Pacific Ocean

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, EarlyView.
Abstract In 2022 the presence of the Japanese sardine, Sardinops melanosticta (Temminck and Schlegel), was detected in the eastern Pacific Ocean, far outside its known western North Pacific range. The species was collected along with the Pacific sardine, Sardinops sagax (Jenyns), which is native to the eastern Pacific Ocean.

Flavobacterium oreochromis From Farmed Tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum): Insights Into Genetic, Phenotypic and Pathogenic Diversity

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Flavobacterium spp. are the etiological agents of columnaris disease. Although there is evidence that columnaris poses a significant threat to the farming of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum), there remains a large gap in understanding the genetic and phenotypic diversities of columnaris‐causing bacteria (CCB).

Identification of natural compound inhibitors for multidrug efflux pumps of Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa using in silico high-throughput virtual screening and in vitro validation.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli are resistant to wide range of antibiotics rendering the treatment of infections very difficult. A main mechanism attributed to the resistance is the function of efflux pumps.

Selective in vivo damage by "visible" light of BrdU-containing mitochondrial DNA in a thymidine kinase-deficient mouse cell line with persistent mitochondrial enzyme activity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
The selective incorporation of 5-bromodeoxyuridine (BrdU) into mitochondrial DNA (mit-DNA) in the LM(TK-) Cl ID cell line, a thymidine kinase-deficient derivative of L, fibrobla8ts with persistent mitochondrial enzyme activity, has been utilized to ...
