Phosphorus influences annual bluegrass competitiveness at seeding in perennial ryegrass and creeping bentgrass

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 5, Issue 4, 2022., 2022
Abstract Annual bluegrass (AB; Poa annua L.) infestation is aided by phosphorus (P), but there is no information evaluating the effect of P on AB encroachment into turfgrass at seeded establishment. We hypothesized AB seedling survival and vigor will increase with P rates, compromising establishment of desired turfgrass species.

Alteration of the Carrot Root Periderm by Ethofumesate

open access: yesHortScience, 1983
Abstract Soluble lipids from periderm of carrot ( Daucus carota L. cv. ‘Danvers’) were not decreased significantly by foliar sprays of linuron, chlorpropham, ethofumesate, or Stoddard oil applied to field plots.

Evaluation of Broadleaf Weeds Control with Selectivity of Post-Emergence Herbicides in Sugar Beet (<i>Beta vulgaris</i> L.)

open access: yesNotulae Scientia Biologicae, 2014
The reduction of herbicide applications is a main research priority in recent years. In order to study the effect of individual post-emergence application of sugar beet broad-leaf herbicides at four to six true-leaf stage of weeds, experiments were ...

Variation for QTL alleles associated with total dissolved solids among crop types in a GWAS of a Beta vulgaris diversity panel. [PDF]

open access: yesPlant Genome
Abstract Sweetness is a main component of the table beet (Beta vulgaris L.) flavor profile and a key determinant of its market success for fresh consumption. Total dissolved solids (TDS) is a proxy for sugar content in produce and are easily measured through a refractometer, making TDS valuable in breeding programs focused on increasing sweetness.

Efficacy of preemergence-applied metamitron to sugar beet in the western United States

open access: yesWeed Technology
No effective preemergence or postemergence herbicides are currently available to use on sugar beets for managing kochia and Palmer amaranth that are resistant to glyphosate and acetolactate synthase.

Control of Volunteer Wheat (Triticum aestivum) in Fall-Planted Perennial Ryegrass (Lolium perennne) with Ethofumesate

open access: yes, 1980
Ethofumesate [(±)-2-ethoxy-2,3-dihydro-3,3-dimethyl-5-benzofuranyl methanesulfonate] was evaluated in field experiments at rates from 0.6 to 4.5 kg/ha for control of volunteer wheat (Triticum aestivumL.
