An Efficient Chemoselective Reduction of Furan Series Unsaturated Dinitriles

open access: yesMolecules, 2013
An efficient reduction of double bonds conjugated with nitrile groups and acid or base sensitive furan rings with 2-phenylbenzimidazoline generated in situ has been successfully accomplished with high yields and excellent selectivity.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Evidence for structural and electronic instabilities at intermediate temperatures in $\kappa$-(BEDT-TTF)$_{2}$X for X=Cu[N(CN)$_{2}$]Cl, Cu[N(CN)$_{2}$]Br and Cu(NCS)$_{2}$: Implications for the phase diagram of these quasi-2D organic superconductors

open access: yes, 2001
We present high-resolution measurements of the coefficient of thermal expansion $\alpha (T)=\partial \ln l(T)/\partial T$ of the quasi-twodimensional (quasi-2D) salts $\kappa$-(BEDT-TTF)$_2$X with X = Cu(NCS)$_2$, Cu[N(CN)$_2$]Br and Cu[N(CN)$_2$]Cl.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Photoelectron spectroscopy of ethylene, isobutylene, trimethylethylene, and tetramethylethylene at variable angles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
Using a HeI line 58.4 nm source lamp, photoelectron angular distributions were measured for the series of four olefins: ethylene, isobutylene (2‐methyl‐propene), trimethylethylene (2‐methyl‐2‐butene), and tetramethylethylene (2,3‐dimethyl‐2‐butene). From

Polyhydroxyalkanoate as a slow-release carbon source for in situ bioremediation of contaminated aquifers: from laboratory investigation to pilot-scale testing in the field [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A pilot-scale study aiming to evaluate the potential use of poly-3-hydroxy-butyrate (PHB) as an electron donor source for in situ bioremediation of chlorinated hydrocarbons in groundwater was conducted.

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.
