Culture of Eucheuma cottonii and Eucheuma spinosum in Indonesia

Hydrobiologia, 1987
Mariculture or farming of Eucheuma seaweed as raw material for carrageenan manufacture was first introduced in the Philippines in 1967 and became commercially viable in 1974, during which year a total production of 8000 t dry wt was recorded (Doty, 1983). In 1985 total production reached 32000 t dry wt, mainly consisting of Eucheuma cottonii.

Carrageenans. Part VII. Polysaccharides from Eucheuma spinosum and Eucheuma cottonii. The covalent structure of ι-carrageenan

J. Chem. Soc., Perkin Trans. 1, 1973
ι-Carrageenan has been characterized by chemical methods to provide a firm basis for interpretation of data from X-ray diffraction and optical rotation, and so to confirm the carrageenan double helix. This polysaccharide was isolated from the red seaweed Eucheuma spinosum and shown by methylation analysis and partial fragmentation, and by other ...

Eucheuma Cottonii Hydrochar: A Promising Adsorbent for Congo Red Dye

Indonesian Journal of Material Research
This study investigates the transformation of Eucheuma cottonii (EC) into a highly efficient adsorbent through hydrothermal carbonization at 200°C, resulting in hydrochar (HC-200). The FT-IR analysis reveals significant structural changes, including reduced intensity of oxygenated functional groups such as carbonyl and hydroxyl, alongside increased ...
