Redescription of Euglena rustica (Euglenophyceae), a rare euglenophyte from the intertidal zone
Phycologia, 2002Abstract Euglena rustica, a rare species of Euglena, was discovered growing in patches in the intertidal sand of Nannygoat Beach at the University of Georgia Marine Institute at Sapelo Island, Georgia. A full-emended description is given. The cells are ~ 50 μm long, and the posterior is never attenuate.

Envelopes of the euglenoid flagellate,Trachelomonas lefevrei may range in color from hyaline to golden to dark brown and may be variously ornamented with spines, papillae and puncta. Elemental composition affects both envelope color and microarchitecture, which may be granular and/or microcrystalline.

ABSTRACT. Two different length cDNAs encoding triosephosphate isomerase (TIM) were identified in the two trophic modes of euglenoids, the phototrophic Euglena gracilis and Euglena intermedia and the saprotrophic Astasia longa. Sequence analyses and presequence prediction indicated that the shorter cDNA encodes a cytosolic TIM and the longer cDNA ...

The Euglenophyceae chloroplast was acquired when a heterotrophic euglenoid engulfed a green alga and subsequently retained the algal chloroplast, in a process known as secondary endosymbiosis. Since this event, Euglenophyceae have diverged widely and their chloroplast genomes (cpGenomes) have as well.

Biodiversity of Euglenophyceae in Safilguda Lake, Hyderabad, India
International Journal on AlgaeThis paper presents a study of Euglenophyceae, in Safilguda Lake. For this purpose, physicochemical parameters were analyzed in water samples obtained from three sampling stations in the lake between May 2017 to April 2018. Statistical tests were used to establish the link between phytoplankton and physico-chemical variables ...

A morphological and molecular examination of the genus Monomorphina was conducted on 46 strains isolated mainly from Korea. The strains were divided into two types based on morphological data: Monomorphina aenigmatica and M. pyrum ‐ like species. Phylogenetic analysis based on a combined data set of nuclear SSU and LSU and plastid SSU and LSU rDNA ...

The synonymy of Colacium calvum Stein and Colacium physeter Fott (Euglenophyceae)
Phycologia, 1982Abstract Colacium calvum Stein and Colacium physeter Fott are epibionts on cladocerans with a restricted attachment on the postabdomen and posterior appendages. They are both significantly larger than and distinct from Colacium vesiculosum Ehrenberg. Colacium physeter was originally distinguished from C.
