Abelhas Euglossina (Hymenoptera: Apidae) em área de restinga do nordeste do Maranhão [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2009

Nomenclatural issues in the orchid bees (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossina) and an updated catalogue

Zootaxa, 2011
The taxonomic status (or the taxonomic status of the onomatophores) of seven nomina are revised: Eulaema meriana (Olivier, 1789), Euglossa piliventris Guérin-Méneville, 1844, Exaerete appendiculata (Romand, 1849), Exaerete subcornuta (Romand, 1849), Eufriesea danielis (Schrottky, 1907), Euglossa fimbriata Moure, 1968, and Eufriesea yepezi (Moure, 2000).

Nesting Biology of Euglossa dodsoni Moure (Hymenoptera: Euglossinae) in Panama

Journal of the Kansas Entomological Society, 2009
The orchid bee genus Euglossa contains more than 100 species distributed throughout the Neotropics from Paraguay to Mexico (Michener, 2000). Most species nest in protected cavities such as in logs, trunks, small cavities between rocks, and man-made constructions, but some species build their nests in exposed sites where they are attached to small ...

Taxonomic notes on Euglossa (Glossuropoda) with a key to the known species (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossina)

Zootaxa, 2009
Euglossa hugonis Moure, 1989, described from the municipality of Tabatinga, state of Amazonas, Brazil, and Euglossa juremae Moure, 1989 described from the municipality of Vigia, state of Pará, Brazil, were recently considered to be the same species and synonymized under the former nomen.

Orchid bee fauna (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossina) of Atlantic Forest fragments inside an urban area in southeastern Brazil [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2007
Male orchid bees were collected by chemical baiting in four forest fragments in parks of the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, southeastern Brazil. One thousand three hundred and twenty-five males belonging to 14 species were captured within one year. The capture data were compared through correlation tests.

Species of Euglossa (Glossura) in the Brazilian Atlantic forest, with taxonomic notes on Euglossa stellfeldi Moure (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossina) [PDF]

open access: yesRevista Brasileira De Entomologia, 2007
The species of Euglossa (Glossura) occuring in the Brazilian Atlantic forest were revised and an identification key to males and females is provided. The status of Euglossa annectans Dressler and E. stellfeldi Moure is reevaluated and the latter species is transferred from E. (Glossura) to E. (Glossurella). Here we also synonymize E.

Forest fragments with larger core areas better sustain diverse orchid bee faunas (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Euglossina) [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2010
Male orchid bees were attracted to chemical baits and collected in nine Atlantic Forest fragments in southeastern Brazil. Fragments differed in size and shape. Three additional sites were also sampled in a nearby large fragment. Three hypothetical core areas of each fragment were measured as the total area minus an area of 50, 100, and 200-m-wide ...

Biogeographic notes on rare species of Euglossina (Hymenoptera: Apidae: Apini) occurring in the Brazilian Atlantic Rain Forest [PDF]

open access: yesNeotropical Entomology, 2004
The significance of specimens of rare species of Euglossina collected recently is discussed in terms of elucidating their biogeography and conservation status. Particularly, two new records are presented for the state of Minas Gerais, which considerably increase the known geographic range of the species they represent.

[Euglossina bees (Hymenoptera: Apidae) in an area with sandbanks in the northeast of the state of Maranhão, Brazil].

Neotropical entomology, 2009
The bees of subtribe Euglossina are an important component of neotropical fauna and have greater species diversity in tropical forests than in spits. They play an important role in the pollination of several plant species and are considered good indicators of environmental conditions.

Responses of Euglossine Bees (Hymenoptera, Apidae, Euglossina) to an Edge-Forest Gradient in a Large Tabuleiro Forest Remnant in Eastern Brazil

Neotropical Entomology, 2017
Euglossine fauna of a large remnant of Brazilian Atlantic forest in eastern Brazil (Reserva Natural Vale) was assessed along an edge-forest gradient towards the interior of the fragment. To test the hypotheses that the structure of assemblages of orchid bees varies along this gradient, the following predictions were evaluated: (i) species richness is ...
