Positivity of flux vector splitting schemes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Over the last ten years, robustness of schemes has raised an increasing interest among the CFD community. One mathematical aspect of scheme robustness is the positivity preserving property.

A Survey of Interlayer Interaction Models for Graphene and Other 2D Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Van der Waals interactions arising from electronic polarization at atomically close interfaces generate corrugated interlayer energy landscapes that govern normal and tangential tractions. This review presents an overview of quantum, atomistic, analytical, and continuum modeling approaches, highlighting their roles across length scales in capturing ...

The constraint-stabilized implicit methods on Lie group for differential-algebraic equations of multibody system dynamics

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The implicit methods on Lie group are developed for multibody system dynamics. To avoid the violation of the displacement, velocity and acceleration constraints of the nonlinear differential-algebraic equations, the constraint-stabilized equations on Lie

Mittag-Leffler Euler ∇-differences for Caputo fractional-order systems

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2022
Exponential Euler differences have got rapid development recently for integer-order differential equations. But there are few papers focusing on this difference to fractional differential equations.

Efficient upwind algorithms for solution of the Euler and Navier-stokes equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
An efficient three-dimensionasl tructured solver for the Euler and Navier-Stokese quations is developed based on a finite volume upwind algorithm using Roe fluxes. Multigrid and optimal smoothing multi-stage time stepping accelerate convergence.

Buckling‐Driven Linearity in Flexible Capacitive Pressure Sensors Based on a Three‐Dimensional Dual‐Pore Polyurethane Structure

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A flexible pressure sensor utilizing a 3D dual‐pore polyurethane structure is developed to overcome the intrinsic trade‐off between sensitivity and linearity. By inducing sequential buckling through distinct pore sizes and shapes, the device achieves highly linear and sensitive responses across a wide pressure range.

Variational Integrals of a Class of Nonhomogeneous 𝒜-Harmonic Equations

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
We introduce a class of variational integrals whose Euler equations are nonhomogeneous 𝒜-harmonic equations. We investigate the relationship between the minimization problem and the Euler equation and give a simple proof of the existence of some ...

Model Formulation Over Lie Groups and Numerical Methods to Simulate the Motion of Gyrostats and Quadrotors

open access: yesMathematics, 2019
The present paper recalls a formulation of non-conservative system dynamics through the Lagrange−d’Alembert principle expressed through a generalized Euler−Poincaré form of the system equation on a Lie group.

Testing and Simulation of Multilayer Polyvinylidene Fluoride‐Based Piezoelectric Energy Harvester Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The study considers the use of polymer/dielectric‐based multilayers piezoelectric Energy Harvesters (EH) to produce an output voltage and current, by exploiting the mechanical energy provided by human organs movements. In particular, the heart motion is considered from the kinematic viewpoint, and a multiphysics theoretical model is developed to assess

Multiobjective Codesign Optimization of a Planar Pneumatic Artificial Muscle‐Based Snake‐Like Robot for Enhanced Agility and Energy Efficiency

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A codesign multiobjective optimization framework was developed to enhance the morphology and controller of a snake‐like robot driven by artificial muscles. It improved planar locomotion, agility, and power efficiency. The approach optimized link geometry and controller gains, revealing that shorter muscles near joints and longer linkages maximize ...
