Accelerating Eulerian Video magnification using FPGA

2017 19th International Conference on Advanced Communication Technology (ICACT), 2017
Video magnification can amplify and display the subtle motions that are impossible to see with our naked eyes. However, it's time consuming for CPU processing video magnification with high resolution. We propose a FPGA-based solution to Laplacian pyramid, temporal filter and pyramid reconstruction algorithm of the video magnification.

Soot propensity detection by Eulerian video magnification

2017 IEEE International Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference (I2MTC), 2017
This work presents the theoretical fundamentals of a novel approach to determine the threshold over which flames release soot into the environment, characterized by the Smoke Point Height concept. The recognition of this critical point requires the detection of particular morphological changes in the flame, identified in this approach through their ...

Vital sign monitoring utilizing Eulerian video magnification and thermography

2016 38th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC), 2016
In this paper we present a proof of concept for non-contact extraction of vital signs using RGB and thermal images obtained from a smart phone. Using our method, heart rate, respiratory rate and forehead temperature can be measured concurrently. Face detection and tracking is leveraged in order to allow natural motion of patients.

Interactive Evolutionary Parameter Optimization for Eulerian Video Magnification

2018 IEEE Symposium Series on Computational Intelligence (SSCI), 2018
This paper explores control parameter tuning for the Eulerian Video Magnification (EVM) process using a pair comparison-based interactive differential evolution (PCB-IDE) algorithm. Interactive evolutionary optimizers have a history of being applied to video/image post-processing tasks because assessing the quality of video data is objectively ...

Response Analysis of Eulerian Video Magnification

2019
The human eye has a very high optical resolution making it one of the most astonishing curiosities of the world. However, its spatial resolution is not good enough to capture everything happening around it, and it can miss out minor details, which can be termed as hidden movements.

Face Liveness Detection Using Eulerian Video Magnification and SIFT Algorithm

2020 IEEE International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Information Systems (ICAIIS), 2020
In this paper, face liveness detection method which is based on very short video is proposed. Firstly, spatial and temporal video processing is performed by using Eulerian video magnification. Next, the matching pairs between frames are extracted from the original video. Then, the paper constructs the feature histogram from the color difference between

Eulerian Video Magnification in Surveillance Systems

2022
In this article we look at the research behind Eulerian Video Magnification, its beginnings and innovations that lead to its potential use in real time heart rate measurement. The spatial amplitude changes are exaggerated using EVM in conjuncture with face detection using the Viola-Jones algorithm to allow measurement of moving subjects.

Noncontact SpO2 Measurement Using Eulerian Video Magnification

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2020
Peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitoring is critical during surgery and in intensive care units (ICS). Over the last decades, several studies have addressed the noncontact monitoring of vital signs, but few reports have focused on SpO2. This paper presents an SpO2 monitoring method without physical contact with the patient using imaging ...

Wrist pulse measurement and analysis using Eulerian video magnification

2016 IEEE-EMBS International Conference on Biomedical and Health Informatics (BHI), 2016
The wrist pulse reveals important information on the health status of a subject. The morphology and characteristics of the wrist pulse play a significant role in analyzing and diagnosing abnormal health conditions. In ancient China, measuring the wrist pulse was considered an important part of the traditional Chinese medicine.
