The Structure and Properties of LiPb Eutectic and Near-Eutectic Alloys
Fusion Science and Technology, 2009Li17-Pb83 eutectic is considered as one of the option for ITER test blanket and breeder blanket of DEMO reactor. Properties of Li-Pb eutectic define the conditions of its application and breeder blanket design and vice versa - operating conditions affect to the properties of eutectic that resulted in structure and properties changes.

An eutectic bonding technology at a temperature below the eutectic point
1992 Proceedings 42nd Electronic Components & Technology Conference, 2003The authors report a technique which needs only 240 degrees C to produce nearly eutectic Au-Sn bonding. After bonding, the device can take a postprocessing temperature of 250 degrees C without bonding degradation. The bonding medium consists of Au-Sn multilayer composite deposited directly on the object to be bonded. This technology also eliminates the

Formation of a separated eutectic in Al-Si eutectic alloy
Journal of Materials Science, 1992The phenomenon of a “separated eutectic” in Al-Si eutectic alloy unidirectionally solidified with electromagnetic stirring was investigated. It was found that the eutectic silicon could be swept away from the solid/liquid (s/l) interface by the flow, and transferred by the secondary flow to the wall of the crucible, forming a silicon-rich layer on the ...

Theory of eutectic alloys and eutectic (contact) melting
Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 2010The possibility is studied of using electrical contact eutectic melting for increasing the wear resistance of steel components. As a result of rapid solidification of a melt formed at the surface of a steel component there is formation of a pore-free wear-resistant layer of white cast iron.

Eutectic spacing selection in the lead-tin eutectic system
Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A, 1995It is well established that the regular lamellar eutectic structure exhibits a limited range of spacings rather than a unique spacing during steady-state growth at constant velocity. The min-imum observed spacing corresponds to the extreme spacing predicted by the Jackson-Hunt (JH) theory.

NiC eutectic point (approximately 1329/spl deg/C) is studied as a fixed point for the calibration of Pt/Pd thermocouples that have useful measuring temperature up to 1500/spl deg/C. It is found that reproducibility in the temperature of Melting Plateau is 0.1/spl deg/C and that that of Freezing Plateau is 0.1/spl deg/C.

Predictability of Eutectic Microstructures
Materialwissenschaft und Werkstofftechnik, 1997AbstractThe interphase spacings σ in the microstructures of most binary and pseudobinary “normal” metallic eutectics can roughly be quan‐ tified with regard to their respective solidification rates v according to a general relationship constant the constant being commonly between 10−10 and 10−11 cm3 −1 The designation “normal” relates to similar ...

Eutectic solidification in hypo-eutectic aluminium-silicon alloys [PDF]
Many commercial Al-Si foundry alloys contain silicon of near-eutectic composition for good castability. Cu, Mg and Fe are common alloying elements found in Al-Si alloys. The Al-Si eutectic phase represents the major part of the alloy’s volume and differences in eutectic nucleation and growth mechanisms significantly influence the formation of casting ...

Journal of Crystal Growth, 1968
Abstract Some of the more important aspects of lamellar and rod-like eutectic growth are presented. Recent experimental work has cast serious doubt on current theory. It seems probable that difficulties arise because of an incorrect choice of the additional condition necessary to specify lamellar growth.
