Observations on the Behavior of Skipjack Tuna, Euthynnus pelamis, in Captivity
Copeia, 1962Maintenance of skipjack tuna, Euthynnus pelamis, in captivity for periods up to 51/2 months enabled various behavioral observations to be made. Food consumption per pound of skipjack per day when fed to satiation every hour was twice that when fed to satiation once a day. Passage of shrimp exoskeleton through the digestive tract took l1/2 hours.

This study was performed to determine the concentrations of copper (Cu), zinc (Zn), and lead (Pb) in the gill, liver, muscle, and tail fin tissues of Euthynnus affinis, Katsuwonus pelamis, and Thunnus albacares from Oman Sea. All samples were analyzed using a flame atomic absorption spectrophotometer and the results were expressed as μg g-1 dry weight.
