Simulating Assisted Evacuation Using Unity3D

2019
Past studies on emergency events have revealed that occupants’ behaviours and capabilities, procedural aspects and environmental constraints affect the evacuation performance of different types of buildings including healthcare facilities. Healthcare facility management needs to consider the occupants’ capabilities as well as the unique floor layouts ...

Technology for simulating crowd evacuation behaviors

International Journal of Automation and Computing, 2009
This paper presents a model for simulating crowd evacuation and investigates three widely recognized problems. For the space continuity problem, this paper presents two computation algorithms: one uses grid space to evaluate the coordinates of the obstacle’s bounding box and the other employs the geometry rule to establish individual evacuation routes.

Simulation of Aircraft Disembarking and Emergency Evacuation

2014 22nd Euromicro International Conference on Parallel, Distributed, and Network-Based Processing, 2014
In this paper we simulate the process of disembarking in a small airplane seat layout, based on Airbus A320/ Boeing 737, in search of ways to make it faster and safer under normal evacuation conditions, as well as emergency scenarios with the help of a model based on a parallel computational tool, namely Cellular Automata (CA).

Simulating Collective Evacuations with Social Elements

2017
This work proposes an agent-based evacuation model that incorporates social aspects in the behaviour of the agents and validates it on a benchmark. It aims to fill the gap in this research field with mainly evacuation models without psychological and social factors such as group decision making and other social interactions. The model was compared with

Proposal for Everywhere Evacuation Simulation System

2012
In the aftermath of the September 11 attacks, evacuation simulation has the potential for decreasing the amount of damage resulting from disasters, and, in particular, for saving human lives. Agent based simulation provides a platform for computing individual and collective behaviors that occur in crowds.

Integration of simulation and optimization for evacuation planning

Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, 2016
Abstract Evacuation is a time critical process in which the highest priority is to get those people who may be affected by a disaster out of the danger zone as fast as possible. For disaster-prone areas, authorities often distribute evacuation plans well in advance, or encourage the population to prepare themselves for eventual disasters.

Simulation and Experiment of Mass Evacuation to a Tsunami Evacuation Tower

Volume 14: Emerging Technologies; Safety Engineering and Risk Analysis; Materials: Genetics to Structures, 2015
A 3D mass evacuation simulation using precise kinematic digital human (KDH) models and an experimental study are discussed. The tidal wave associated with the large tsunami caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake was responsible for more than 90% of the disaster casualties.

Simulation of Evacuation Route Guidance in MANET-based Building Evacuation System

Proceedings of the 12th EAI International Conference on Performance Evaluation Methodologies and Tools, 2019
A MANET (Mobile Ad Hoc NETwork) is a network that consists of mobile terminals such as smart phones. In MANETs, information messages can be exchanged directly among mobile terminals using wireless networks so that no centralized server or network infrastructure is required.

PSO-Based Emergency Evacuation Simulation

2011
The Emergency Evacuation Simulation (EES) has been increasingly becoming a hotspot in the field of transportation. PSO-based EES is a good choice as its low computation complexity compared with some other algorithms, especially in an emergency. The selection of fitness function of each particle in PSO is a key problem for EES. This paper will introduce

Simulation of pedestrian evacuation with affected visual field and absence of evacuation signs

2010 Sixth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2010
A simulation of pedestrian evacuation in room with affected visual field and absence of the direction of evacuation signs will be presented based on cellular automata (CA) in this paper. Evacuation room is divided into exit-visible area and exit-invisible area by pedestrian visual field radius.
