Social Robot Navigation Tasks: Combining Machine Learning Techniques and Social Force Model [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Social robot navigation in public spaces, buildings or private houses is a difficult problem that is not well solved due to environmental constraints (buildings, static objects etc.), pedestrians and other mobile vehicles.

Evacuation in the Social Force Model is not Stationary

open access: yesActa Physica Polonica A, 2012
An evacuation process is simulated within the Social Force Model. Thousand pedestrians are leaving a room by one exit. We investigate the stationarity of the distribution of time lags between instants when two successive pedestrians cross the exit. The exponential tail of the distribution is shown to gradually vanish.

On oscillations in the Social Force Model [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 2015
The Social Force Model is one of the most prominent models of pedestrian dynamics. As such naturally much discussion and criticism has spawned around it, some of which concerns the existence of oscillations in the movement of pedestrians. This contribution is investigating under which circumstances, parameter choices, and model variants oscillations do

The Inflection Point of the Speed-Density Relation and the Social Force Model [PDF]

open access: yesCollective Dynamics, 2016
It has been argued that the speed-density diagram of pedestrian movement has an inflection point. This inflection point was found empirically in investigations of closed-loop single-file pedestrian movement. The reduced complexity of single-file movement does not only allow a higher precision for the evaluation of empirical data, but it also ...

RESEARCH ON EVACUATION BASED ON SOCIAL FORCE MODEL [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2017
Crowded centers always cause personnel casualties in evacuation operations. Stampede events often occur by hit, squeeze and crush due to panic. It is of vital important to alleviate such situation.

Social Force Model-Based Group Behavior Simulation in Virtual Geographic Environments

open access: yesISPRS International Journal of Geo-Information, 2018
Virtual geographic environments (VGEs) are extensively used to explore the relationship between humans and environments. Crowd simulation provides a method for VGEs to represent crowd behaviors that are observed in the real world. The social force model (

Dynamic Obstacle Avoidance with Enhanced Social Force Model and DWA Algorithm Using SparkLink [PDF]

open access: yesSensors
In the context of Industry 4.0, addressing the challenge of dynamic obstacle avoidance for Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in complex industrial environments, this paper proposes an algorithm that integrates an enhanced social force model (SFM) and an ...
